Quote from: brewcity77 on December 08, 2024, 10:26:16 AMThey're very good. Barnes has built a great defense first culture, and finding Lanier after Knecht is impressive. So far, Lanier has a higher offensive rating on a higher usage than Knecht did. That will almost certainly fall off, but they aren't just a one-dimensional defensive team like they were for years under Barnes.

I find it amusing that Texas dumped Barnes and was happy to see Shaka go in their search for a coach worthy of the Texas name.  ;D

Quote from: MU82 on December 08, 2024, 11:24:38 AMThis is around where I am, too. If Missou, at home, can upset Kansas, KU will plummet. I think Duke and Kentucky will be ahead of us because their wins over Auburn and Gonzaga will get a little more respect than our win over Madison.

So I'll say 7, with a chance to move up to 6 if KU loses.

The biggest question will be if Kentucky's win over Gonzaga (compared to Bucky) carries more weight than their loss to unranked Clemson (vs ours at #6 ISU). I could see those going either way, losing to unranked teams is never helpful.

Yeesh. KU taken to the woodshed thus far

I get the feeling beating the Zags on the road will be viewed as more helpful than the Clemson loss is damaging.

Shouldn't move.

Iowa State is not a bad loss, especially with Ross exiting.

UW is a good win.

Get passed by Iowa State, but pass Kansas.

Madison is a Q2 win. It's fine. Not sure it's a great win.

Why isn't beating one of the top two teams (pretty easily) in the B18 a great win?

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

After today's Kansas loss, I'm going to say 4 or 5.

Tennessee and Iowa State for sure ahead of us.  Auburn probably ahead of us.  Then either Kentucky or Marquette.

brewcity77

Quote from: brewcity77 on December 08, 2024, 08:08:10 AMMy guess...

1) Tennessee
2) Auburn
3) Iowa State
4) Kansas (This is where it gets murky)
5) Duke
6) Marquette
7) Kentucky
8) Alabama
9) Oregon
10) Florida

Well, guess Kansas wasn't on board with this. New guess:

1) Tennessee
2) Auburn
3) Iowa State
4) Duke
5) Marquette
6) Kentucky
7) Alabama
8) Oregon
9) Florida
10) Kansas

KU might fall further, but I'm just not sure who jumps ahead of them. Purdue and Gonzaga both took losses this week. I was really hoping UConn would lose and drop out of the poll to move us up the consecutive rankings list, but it doesn't look like the Huskies will cooperate.

Scoop Snoop

I'm bailing on my earlier guess and going with staying at #5.

I have a hard time ranking Tennessee #1 when they haven't really beat anyone. Auburn has the best resume in the country.

I know AP will vote differently, but I think the best teams in the country are as follows:

1. Auburn
2. Kentucky
3. Iowa State
4. Duke
5. Tennessee
6. Marquette
7. Kansas
8. OregonPurdue
9. Gonzaga
10. Alabama

I'd be surprised if Kentucky would fall from #4 to #6. They were ranked ahead of Marquette last week. They beat #7 Gonzaga and lost a close one on the road to Clemson. Hope I'm wrong.

If Oregon and Duke win I think this is pretty accurate.

1 Tenn
2 Auburn
3 ISU
4 Kentucky
5 Marquette
6 Duke( if they win)

To be fair, I think Beard was going to have things rolling there until he assaulted his girfriend.

Probably so, but because we are talking about Texas, no need to be fair.

Remember the "Fire Shaka" T shirts that the Texas students and fans wore? And Barnes, if I recall, had an off season-maybe even 2-but the Texas fans were simply NOT having it!

Kolek 'em.
