If you can take the day off, do so.  Make it a three day weekend in Milwaukee.

Catch Pitt on Saturday, see Louisville on Monday, head home.  Could a Marquette fan ask for a better weekend of hoops (aside from the NCAAs)?

Get up there Saturday for the game, dinner/drinks after, Sunday - go to a museum or the Rehorst and Lakefront tours, wake up Monday and head over by the BC for a pregame meal/drink.

If you can, that's a pretty awesome weekend.

To paraphrase.  "I have a dream...  The dream to watch Marquette beat Pitt and Louisville in the same weekend and get drunk while doing it.  And there WILL be Chili for all."
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

The first day of classes for the spring semester is on the 17th. I'm guessing that student attendance will be down as well, unfortunately.

Still, I don't mind this game too much. Better than playing at 2 am during ESPN's annual marathon.
School starts the next morning, there should be a big student crowd!

Who know, this could be a top 15 match-up!

Those who have mlk day off are generally students, government workers, SEIU members, the homeless and social misfits. Basically the same crowd from the feb. protests in madison. Should be a sellout but low television ratings.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to be 'that guy' in this thread.

Good thing my boss is an MU alum as well... Looks like I'll be taking at least a half day.

TallTitan34

I'm actually glad it's on MLK day.  For every weekday MU game, I have to take a half day at work, take a train from Chicago to Rockford, then drive from Rockford to Milwaukee.

Having the day off, I don't have to do that now!

Blue Horseshoe

Viewing the game has no bearing on the outcome whatsoever. I don't care if you watch it or not.

Jay Bee

If you have clients that you meet with in your line of work, you need to have a 'business meeting' at this game.  Easy call.

Buzz Williams' Spillproof Chiclets Cup

The MLK afternoon tipoff time is frankly, the only way I would be able to attend this game. I'm excited for a weekend in Milwaukee with two of our biggest rivals coming to town in the span of just over 48 hours.

Or the government workers like brewcity77 and myself who work Thanksgivings, Christmases, NYE/NYD, Easter, birthdays, anniversaries, weekends, up all night.........nice broad brush there, pal.

My schedule is set well beyond January, and I'll be in training that afternoon. Definitely wish this was an evening game.

Stock market closed so I am off. Looking forward to some day drinking at the BC....
Warrior in the class of 2011.

MUjak

I'm an MU grad student and definitely looking forward to this game! Grad classes are typically at night, so we usually end up having to miss a couple of weekday games during the semester. Plus, it's a great excuse to day-drink on a weekday without feeling like I need to attend an AA meeting.

It's a win-win!

That's your own problem, moron.

My wife and I will be flying out for the weekend games. A chance to see MU take on two hated rivals at the BC in a span of 48 hours is way too good to pass up.

The only 3 ads/advertisers that they will show is the Buzz Williams Show for TWC 32, some ESPN commercial and then those cheesy David Gruber with Aaron Rodgers commercials. Just like on TWC 32 repeating the same 3 or 4 commercials every break. No one will want to advertise.
What the hell are you talking about. >:(

ESPN will be fine. They get good ratings for the Big East.  ;)

8 of the 10 NBA game are in the day and one NHL day.

Obviously not at Marquette.

Unless the law school does, but I am too lazy to check.

And if you really cared that much, you can just make sure you don't schedule any classes at that time, since students haven't registered for second semester classes yet.

Too funny...heading to the game with a good friend who often doesn't get up for games but can come to this one because the market is closed.  I never realized CNBC was funding the protests in Madison.

It's impossible not to schedule classes on Monday while taking a full load. The only day I was able to schedule off was two semesters of no Friday classes (even with 18 credits once).

And don't you people get paid vaca at your work? Just take a half day, work 7-11, go catch the game. Taking 4 hours of your paid vacation won't screw up those travel plans too much down the line.

For every upset Almuni with tickets, I bet there are 10 saying cool, an afternoon game on a Monday - a good reason to take off work.

I'll take that bet.
