I say vodka and sparkling water.  Is that the same thing?

Same thing but you sound like a weirdo.

Are people avoiding the scooter question? It's not that tough to walk

A common misconception about Wisconsin is that we are a 'fat person state'.

Thanks TV!

I'm definitely going to start ordering voka pops.  I'm not sure if I'll pay for them or not.

Milwaukee is probably also the only place where people say that they eat 'bakery' instead of baked goods or simply donuts

Whats the deal with hard rolls in wisconsin.

I am from St. Louis original, came up here for school and got a job and been working here for almost 4 years. For birthdays people have to bring in treats for everyone. sometimes, like today, someone occasionally brings in hard rolls and butter. Am I missing something? What is there about a hard roll that someone would consider it a treat. I get it if it comes with soup, but by its self and butter?

That's nothing.  On Long Island where Mrs. Reinko is from, people show up to BBQ's with a dozen Dunkin' Donuts and call it "dessert".

Naw, the hard rolls are for real.  I grew up eating them with butter.  It's a German thing, and I ran into them served for breakfast when I visited Germany.

Any body else tired of Sconnie.  I am.  Seems like an east coast, ESPN patronization.

anywhere else bakery only means the actual building/business selling sweet rolls etc. whereas here many people call sweet rolls "bakery"

this thread is the first time I've seen the term Sconnies and I've lived here for 45 of my 50 years

I much prefer Sconnie over Cheesehead - by A LOT! I always thought Sconnie was the "derogatory" term people from MN called people from Wisco.

We also call them paczki and they're mother f'ing delicious.

Also for all the Illinois people wondering about "distinctly wisconsin things." You may keep Lena Taylor and Chris Larson, some call them "Senators" Most call them "dumbasses"

Took me a year of ridicule and confusion in college to switch to calling it an ATM.  Could be worse, I had a friend from central Ohio who called them Green Machines, and still does.

Being from Ohio, that term makes sense to me.  Though I haven't ever really called them green machines.

You misunderstand.  I have never heard a single person call sweet rolls, "bakery".

I've lived in WI for 28 of my 29 years of life.

Paczki's are not a Wisconsin thing. They are a Polish thing.

So, if anything it's an Illinois thing due to the Polish population.

Sconnie is a term a couple UW students trademarked a couple years ago in reference to the university.

are you really trying to attempt to start a pissing contest over a jelly donut?
A) Milwaukee has a large polish population too
B) I posted that on Fat Tuesday because they are traditionally a Fat Tuesday item

Could be. It was a pretty entrepreneurial thing. They sell shirts with the saying and everything.
