There were a number of coaches not thrilled with MU on the Brandon Dawson recruitment.  Plenty of rumors flying around, but the one that was posted over there I had never heard and give 0% credence to.  That's beyond silly and no truth to it.

I find it hilarious that they get mad that we recruit the same kids they do.  Oh, I'm sorry, because you are the great University of Wisconsin we are not entitled to look at any in state players until you have passed over them.  They are just jealous that we landed mathews and blue out of their backyard.  And not to mention, marquette has not had a tall white boy (Fundementally skilled player  ) since Novak (Kinsella and Fitzgerald do not count)!  Doesn't look like we recruit the same players after all.

As for them feeling so high on themselves about being such a prestigious university, they are full of themselves and sh!t.  I grew up on the east coast and with schools such as harvard, yale, cornell, georgetown, nyu, columbia (shall I continue)  not once was UW mentioned as being a prestigious university.  Im sorry but they really need to get over themselves already.  They are a state school and will never be as prestigious as schools like stanford, notre dame, duke.....  Thats just how it goes.  If you were from out of state and were smart enough to attend stanford or UW, I feel the choice is quite obvious and you would not be dwelling in the mid west.  Ok, Im done venting.  GO MARQUETTE.

I don't like uw basketball. Never will. But ido respect them and Bo as he is a good coach. Their fan base is not much different than ours to be honest. I tend to believe all are pretty same in that they hate the other in state schools and will bash others when given the chance. They sucked for a long time but are good now because of Bo. Yes they are boring as hell to watch and I for one would hate if we had their system nor would I ever want to play for them if I was a d1 baskeball player. But I respect their program.

As far as the anti buzz sentiments about dawson, there is no way that is true.

What I'm asking is if you question the content or the grammatical correctness with which they are written.

While Bo still has some life left, I agree that Becky's superiority complex is a bit sad and ill-deserved. Listen, the school has some very good research facilities, but most of their student body never has any contact with any of that and doesn't get any better education than if they attended Marquette, Stevens Point, or Parkside. But because of a few Rose Bowls they think they are somehow superior to the rest of the state. That's sad and ignorant, and I'm pretty sure that was the only point ska was trying to make there.

As far as Dandy...well, in terms of the East Coast, no, I don't think anyone out there will start a conversation with Harvard and Yale, move on to Columbia and Cornell, and stop to discuss UW in the middle. They will never enter the conversation. Never. Never ever. Will not happen. Unless they stop to talk about college football. And even then, the people having this discussion would probably be more interested in the Harvard/Yale game than UW breaking through to the BCS. The reason people talk about an East Coast bias is because the vast majority of the East Coast focuses on...wait for it...the East Coast! UW is not on the East Coast, is not an Ivy League school (no matter how they delude themselves, and again, the delusional ones are NOT the ones benefiting from the places where UW actually can compare academically with the Ivy League), and simply doesn't have the history or pop culture presence to be regarded on the same level as a Harvard or Yale. Pop culture dictates that very few other schools can be mentioned in that breath. Duke. Notre Dame. Stanford. Maybe Chicago and Northwestern. Maybe. But just because there are (and I acknowledge that they exist) other schools that have certain programs that are on par with Ivies, that doesn't mean that anyone on the East Coast even knows or cares that they exist.

My guess is from an academic standpoint, most average East Coasters would expect Marquette to have better academics than Wisconsin because we are private and don't have a state name attached. In some programs, they'd be right. In general ed, they'd be wrong, we're pretty much even par. In research programs, they'd be wrong. But that doesn't change the perception that East Coast schools rule all, then non-EC privates, than dirty state schools. Again, perception doesn't make it so, but that doesn't mean that isn't the thought process.
