I went in 2008, so that's quite awhile ago.

I remember thinking that the food was ridiculously cheap and that the merch was about what one would expect given the event. I bought a couple of Bobby Jones-brand polos for around $75 each, a hat for about $20 and a few other things. Again, that was 17 years ago, but I didn't think those were outrageous.

OK, golf junkies, philosophical, existential question for you.  Demo day today.  I am in the market for a higher launching 3 wood.   Two stood out.  Both had a repeating ball flight.  One is twice the price and 10 yards longer.  Is stacking them up at 240 better twice as good as stacking them up at 230?

I have played Harbor Town many times.  I have yet to use a pw or 9i, on my 2nd shot to the green, from the tips.   Or the whites for that matter.   :(

Not many holes at Harbor Town I don't have wedge or 9iron in from the whites after my drive

Though to be fair, it is only 6239 from the white tees.  Hit your tee shots straight, and yeah, lots of 8-9 irons and wedges.

Amen.  Although, for me it is more fun to piss off my buddies by getting up and down from the ballwasher.  That is why, even though I am usually an 'A' player in scrambles, I am a lousy scramble partner.

Why many (most?) "traditions" are stoopid, Part 842 ...

Mao Saigo of Japan won the Chevron Championship on Sunday in a historic five-way playoff to claim her first LPGA major title. Then things turned scary.

‌It's tournament tradition for the champion to jump into the lake off the 18th green. So that's what Saigo did — only she can't swim and didn't realize the water was that deep.

‌"I thought I was going to drown," said Saigo, who struggled to tread water. "It was scary," added her caddie, who was part of a second wave of jumpers. "Every time I broke the surface, I got pulled under again. They were trying to grab someone."

Thankfully, everyone made it back to dry land and Saigo was able to celebrate her victory (and $1.2 million payday) in a white robe and slippers, as is also tradition.
