I have had a number of Mormon acquaintances, and to a person they have been among the nicest, kindest, nonjudgmental people I know.

Also I think non-devout Mormons have Jim McMahon to thank for blazing the trail for them.

Same here. We have neighbors who are higher ups in the local congregation, so they frequently have guests. Both our neighbors and their guests have always been wonderful, never pushy or preachy. Salt of the earth kind of folks.

Congrats to Brendan and his girlfriend, and best of luck wherever his career takes them.

Jim McMahon isn't mormon.

And Jim McMahon is the opposite of nice and kind. A complete and utter tool.

I know this is almost an unheard of thing to do on Scoop, but I stand corrected.
Have some patience, FFS.

I have worked with several over the years. Exact same experience. Honest as well. Strange religion, seems to turn out genuinely good people. More religions should strive for that.

I was his oldest son's baseball coach one year. Wonderful kid and Jim actually helped with the team (great batting practice pitcher who threw strike after strike). He valued his privacy and didn't like strangers hounding him for autographs. He could be short with people in those situations, but he was always genuine and friendly in my dealings with him.

He was also funny as hell in the "30 for 30" about the '85 Bears.  "Jim, did you call the women of New Orleans sluts?"

I bet Brendan is taking the year off to prepare for the TBT.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

My experience with him comes from when he played for the Bears, and not as a stranger hounding him for autographs.
