It'll go something like this:
"According to MUScoop, a Marquette message board, Lockett is heading to Marquette."
Would love to tweet it out, because I think it eventually happens, but this kid has the look of no credibility. I do think it gets done soon, however.
Im pretty sure its a done deal from the sources i have. A few kinks still need to figured out but all signs point to him making an announcement in the next few days. Sources very close to Lockett and Marquette have confirmed.
Big time get!

Hey, reinko, I just got word that Lockett to Marquette is a done deal. If anyone asks, you didn't hear it from me.

My guess is something like this:
Locks:
Otule
Cadougan
J. Wilson
then 2 out of these 3:
Lockett
Blue
Mayo
Super subs:
Gardner
TJ Taylor
Steve Taylor
D. Wilson
That's a solid 10 man rotation with Anderson, Jones, Ferguson, and Thomas potentially making some noise as well.
Looking at that lineup, this team might be harder to defend than last year's team was. Granted, we don't have the two go-to guys with DJO and Crowder leaving, but I could see Jamil, Lockett, Mayo, Blue, Gardner, or TJ all being able to go off for 15+ on any given night. If Otule and Cadougan can make even marginal (5-8 ppg) contributions, that's a lot of scoring options to try to stop, and would make double-teams very difficult.
I know expectations are down, but with this addition, especially with potential off the bench snipers like Thomas and (maybe) Brzoja, this team could be very hard to stop.

I mostly agree with you. Except I don't see how people can continue to not have Vander be a starter. He started almost every game this year while playing 26 min a game. Unless everyone else gets that much better I don't see how he is forced out of the starting lineup.
Locks:
Junior
Jamil
Vander
Otule
One of Mayo or Lockett, and that is a good looking starting five.
Bench wise I think we are very deep, with Davante and the other of the Mayo/Lockett combo being first and second off the bench. After that I think minutes are up for grabs. D. Wilson will get his minutes because he is a true PG. TJ Taylor sounds great, but I have never seen him and don't know enough to comment. I think Juan and Steve Taylor will fight for minutes, and could see both being productive. I also think everyone is forgetting about Melo. He could steal minutes from three different spots. All around a deep team.

I would be amazed if Lockett comes here and doesn't start. I would be also amazed if Blue doesn't start having started almost every game (if not every game) last year. I think Mayo comes off the bench, but could end up getting more minutes than Blue in a number of games next year.

Agree. I think Lockett, Blue and Mayo will be 3 guys rotating through 2 spots and all getting their share of minutes. TJ will get minutes, but it will depend upon if he outplays wilson for back-up PG, or Jones for back-up switchable.
Plus, Sultan, if Lockett comes, then I think you are right about Jake. He won't see the floor for more than 5min as Lockett addresses the biggest weakness of shooting (which is why I thought Jake might play).
I like next year's roster a
lot (with Lockett).
The only potential weakness is finding out who can be the "crunch time" guy and get his own shot. Mayo seems to be pretty good getting his own. Vander can beat guys off the dribble, but struggles to finish. I'm sure it will be a work in progress.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the everybody returns.

I really like that line up. Reminds me a bit of Louisville this year, with just a lot of solid players, lots of length, great Defense, but no real go-to stars (I know Siva got hot in march, but before then he wasn't that great).
And btw, no way Blue doesn't start. He is one of Buzz's "guys" and, not to mention, has proven himself as the most valuable all-around player coming back next year (ball handling, scoring, defense, etc...). Mayo/Lockett take the last starting spot/come off the bench.

You said MU would become SLU, but obviously that hasn't happened (yet).
My guess is Lockett and Vander start and Mayo still gets a ton of minutes. Similar to last year but he may get even more as my guess is Lockett does not get quite as many minutes as DJO got.
Great battle for minutes for those guys heathy competiton will only make them better

Why would they wait and possibly make the kid look bad if he is forced out? Having them transfer early on own accord looks better for kid and school. I see no reason why the school would benefit from delaying the news. Would hope if they are making example of kid(s) it would be done in private to protect the kid and PR for school. No reason that could cause forced transfer is not known by school weeks ago. Not saying transfers cannot or will not happen but I see no positive for anyone delaying things.

While Lockett had a good 3 point % (41), it was on a very small sample. He's not a shooter - gets most of his points off penetration and at the line. He basically a more refined though slightly less athletic version of Blue.

If someone is struggling with grades that has been known for quite some time. I do not buy grades being an issue because that is monitored daily. Guru has impled this is done deal, so finals really do not come in to play. Again, I would think, if grade issue, a classy departure with the other 9,000 transfers around the country would make more sense. No inside scoop here, just thinking out loud.
Quick transfer with rest of national transfers seems more logical to me. Even if being forced out I would think the school would want kids best interest in mind. If that is the case, a transfer in last two weeks is better for kid.

Totally fair.
Career he is 34%, with his best percentage and highest volume coming last year (21-51) which makes me optimistic.
He's not a pure shooter (as you correctly stated), but he's an upgrade in shooting from what we have, which is several guards shooting 33% or worse, and Jamil Wilson leading the team at 35%.
Need to get something outside next year... otherwise I'm afraid MU will lead the universe in charges as opposing teams pack it in and rotate.

Was he? He announced that Wilson had verbally committed on June 8. I don't think that's true.
If Lockett were here, I would think that he would start with Vander over Todd, just from a height perspective if nothing else.
Vander - 6'4"
Todd - 6'3"
Lockett - 6'5"
The two inches between Lockett and Mayo is big when you're talking about playing the 3.

His mother is sick. NCAA may grant hardship waiver so that he can be closer to home (he's from MN) allowing immediate playing time.
Also, apparently he graduates this summer, and NCAA rules allow a transferring player who has eligibility left to play immediately if they are pursuing a graduate program. I'm not sure of the mechanics of this one though, given that he probably can't enroll in grad school at MU until after his summer school is completed.

Also I have contact with some of his friends in Minnesota through my best friend who lives there. From what I have been told by them and others all signs point to MU. I really don't care what you guys think I'm just spreading the word to those who care. Also don't be surprised if someone transfers. Its still a definite possibility.
Not trying to be a jerk but would like to know why you think there is a 50-50. Chance that Blue will transfer?

It still stands. But the shadow casted by the new Zilber Hall makes me believe the land might be getting too valuable for it to stay.

All of this development is foreign to me. The Jes Res was the lone building surrounded by parking lots and grassy fields. We used to roast pigs on a spit in the area between McCormick and the Jes Res. Great excuse to drink beer.

Nah. The Jes Res isn't going anywhere. MU just put pretty big money into the Varsity so that building is staying put. The footprint isn't enough to get excited about especially when one considers how the AMU chapel extends pretty close to the Ave.

I remember we were spit roasting a pig over an open fire and Buck Raynor wanders over to ask what we were up to. We offered a beer and he accepted, gladly. He told us of open pit BBQ's from his youth in Nebraska which were community events. He ended up having a couple beers before wandering back. He made us promise to save him some roast pig, including skin, which we delivered to the Jes Res the next day.

My guess is something like this:
Locks:
Otule
Super subs:
Gardner
I believe I agree that Otule is a lock, but believe there is a good chance Gardner actually plays more minutes. Certainly want Chris on the jump, and to set the tone with great defense at the rim, but when you've got a time bomb who can easily put in a point a minute a lot of times out there, another offseason to lose some more weight with the injury behind him, and I can see Davante going 25 minutes quite often - depending on pace of the game of course.

One of my roommate's brother is a Jes, pretty high up now on the food chain these days, and we would go there for dinner every once in awhile and the keg in the ice box was always flowing.
Fr Majka told us the jes res cafeteria had a Tap of leinie's next to the soda fountain... Fridays at 4 were "attitude adjustment hour"
Lockett is transferring due to his mother's cancer but I think he is using that as a bit of an excuse just to leave ASU (they arent very good, 10-21 this season). He likes MU not only because he is closer to his mother but that MU is a top 10 program that will get him more NBA looks if he does good here. Why would he be considering Gonzaga in Washington if he wanted to be closer to his mom?

Even if his mother wasn't sick, he could still transfer, right? My understanding is that the reason he is able to get the waiver is due to graduating from ASU. To say he is using his mother's illness as an excuse is just plain wrong in my eyes.

Isn't it possible it's both? Gonzaga was the first place he ruled out, and so far, it hasn't sounded like there's an exact determination of how sick she is...maybe when they got a more specific prognosis he ruled Gonzaga out for that reason. Either way, with the graduation, he's within his rights, and I'm not sure it's right to come down on the kid, regardless of the reason he's transferring.
He is down to ISU and Marquette...both with a days drive of home. Minnesota is full. Iowa State is the next closest "BCS level" school. Marquette is roughly the same distance as Iowa.
Why are we questioning his motives?

My post might have come off a little wrong. I think a real reason he is transferring is ASU isn't very good and with the graduation rule he is able to get out. I think the reason he is down to ISU and MU is the illness of his mother. I took the original post I replied to as the poster saying that he was exploiting the situation of his mother's illness to get out of ASU, which is wrong and unfair to Lockett. If she was perfectly healthy he could get out and go to MU due to graduating.

Let's do this in a list.
1.) I hope he signs with Marquette, so why would I run in shame from the board and never return?
2.) I expect him to sign with Marquette. I do not need to pretend that I have sources, or that my Dad is well-connected in the program.
3.) Yes, I. Am. A. Prick. You tend to bring it upon yourself.

What does that mean?
How is a "definite possibility" different than a "possibility," or, for that matter, an "indefinite possibility," or, maybe even an "indefinite impossibility?" Is it somehow more or less possible?
Now, I understand how a "definite impossibility" would be different, but even then why would one add "definite?"
This phrasing is somewhat unique, isn't it?

Haha. Many, many people have saying we are the leaders, and I would bet that at least 90% of this board thinks that Lockett will eventually transfer to Marquette. You brought absolutely no new information to this board. What you did bring was a false rumor that it was done, locked, sealed. You said it was. You have "sources" (or your dad does...). Why hasn't this come out yet then, if it has been a done deal for at least 24 hours now? Seems like you are the only one who is wrong so far...

Reminds me of a funny story involving a Ford Escort. We flew a 4-ship of F-16s into Pt Mugu Naval Air Station. There was a wedding in Malibu that one of the guys was attending; the rest of us brought our sticks for a great weekend of golf, single malt, and combat cubans in SoCal.
We arranged for a rental car and they gave us a Ford Escort. After a long day of flying we addressed the 3 S's and changed in civvies before heading into Malibu for some beers and dinner. We pulled up in front of one of those fern bars that was opened up completely for the afternoon sea breeze. We got our suds and were listening to some creepy Hollywood type brag on to the crowd of extremely attractive women about his job then his Ferrari. Big white dude fro, scratchy beard, thick New Yawk accent, middle eastern swarthy. One of us guffawed openly and the "Director" challenged my buddy with, "Oh, so the guys who drive the Ford Escort think that's (how fast his Ferrari goes) funny? How fast did you go today?"
My bud looked down into his beer then looked Mr Hollywood in the eye and said, "About 2,000 miles an hour."
The Director laughed and called BS but my buddy simply said, "I am an F 16 Pilot." Within minutes The Director lost his crowd of babes who were now swarming around the dashing, studly aviator types.
This may be my favorite thread of all time. The Blue Man is getting a little testy...

The transfer case was me being told by a family friend of Vander Blue that he wasn't to happy with how things were going on and off the court. I happened to hang out with Vander two weekends ago and on two seperate occasions in the same night he almost got in a fight. People try and start fights with him and give him a hard time due to "him raping a girl as they said". Would you like to be in that position?
Also the transfer of Jamail Jones was talked about thoroughly the last few weeks. Then the Hiroshima talks went down. Im just connecting dots here. So yes I still believe its a defenite possibilty- meaning it could defenitely happen...
For the Lockett information. Someone who was friends with him said online that he was going to MU. Yes I got excited and shouldnt of said its "official and final". The Journal sentinel article on him seems to be hinting that he is coming here, just like the article that came out before durley. AAU coaches are used all the time for this matter.
David Hookstead is my source. He said he has sources close to both sides. He said he confirmed with multiple people. He also said don't expect an announcement today.
Later stating "I am aware of the visit, but I also know what he told the MU coaches. The visit to ISU is likely a face to face to give the reason why its a no."
I personally believe it was pretty much final after he visited MU, just that they want to hold off on the anouncement based on his moms health. His visit to ISU is probably his back up plan.
I acted to soon I will admit. I thought it was official at the time and I let my emotions get the best of me. Sorry for making you guys this mad. Ill just become and avid reader instead of poster from now on.

Yes, and that is the point. We are all Marquette fans. None is better than the other. Just because you were awesome enough to get on TV a couple times, probably the awesome jumbotron a number of times, into a sweet magazine, and your dad is pretty awesome himself doesn't mean you're the end-all-be-all of Marquette fanatics. In pretty much every single post you have made in this thread you have talked about how great of a fan you are in some way or another. Such as this one, where you state you "happened to hang out with Vander two weekends ago." Cool man! Not really necessary, which is why nobody else does it.

The only reason I brought up Vander was to show how it can be difficult for someone to get along with the student body when he is looked upon so negatively because of his off court issues.

Ok guys...
I know people that know him as well. When he first got to school last year, he had a hard time. He was young, immature, and it was his first time away from home. Yeah, he got into trouble.
But those same people tell me that he is a good-hearted kid who struggled to make connections away from the team, but has come into his own off the court this year. A little more comfortable in his own shoes...a little more self-confident. And despite the rumors of his struggles at Memorial, is not a dumb kid. Knowing this, I have no trouble believing what you are saying. However, I really doubt he would be leaving on his own volition because he would have announced it already.

Not buying it. I don't doubt that students say things behind Vander's back, but I can't imagine any student approaching Vander, mouthing off and trying to pick a fight with him.

Except this happened. At Qdoba, when the student called him "Vander Orange," leading to the much talked about assault charge last year. Vander Blue is not well-liked by the student body and I've heard some people spout nasty rumors about the kid.

It does? So because somebody made a racist comment that excuses his behavior? I'm not saying the student didn't get what he deserved, but that's life. You're going to run into stupid people throughout your lifetime, you need to pick and choose your battles. Personally if it were me I'd think twice if i was in the great position Vander is in with a scholarship, POTENTIAL NBA, etc.

Hiroshima, actually Hiroshima II is what he called it, was a term used by muguru to describe what he felt the
reaction by the posters on this board will be when the reasons behind a still to be announced transfer or transfers from MU's program. Again, muguru is predicting that people will go "nuclear" not over the transfer(s) themselves as much over the reasons for it(them).
Well, it would be incredibly stupid for MU not to announce all of the transfers at once. So if someone other than Jamail is transferring, I would have expected it to come out today. (Unless it is an academic issue.)

I did some survival training at Eglin as well in the P-Cola harbor. The panhandle of FL is full of swamps and those waters are teeming with cottonmouths. Worst fukkin week of my life was living in those g-d swamps.
I have been through Tyndall many times over the years. Tyndall is home to the first operational Raptor squadron. The F 22 is what you saw flying around. The first time I went up against the Raptor was at a Red Flag. 4 Raptors slaughtered our 8 ship F 16 MiG CAP then proceeded to take out 8 Warthogs. It was unreal. Glad they are on our side.
