Reminds me of a funny story involving a Ford Escort. We flew a 4-ship of F-16s into Pt Mugu Naval Air Station. There was a wedding in Malibu that one of the guys was attending; the rest of us brought our sticks for a great weekend of golf, single malt, and combat cubans in SoCal.

We arranged for a rental car and they gave us a Ford Escort. After a long day of flying we addressed the 3 S's and changed in civvies before heading into Malibu for some beers and dinner. We pulled up in front of one of those fern bars that was opened up completely for the afternoon sea breeze. We got our suds and were listening to some creepy Hollywood type brag on to the crowd of extremely attractive women about his job then his Ferrari. Big white dude fro, scratchy beard, thick New Yawk accent, middle eastern swarthy. One of us guffawed openly and the "Director" challenged my buddy with, "Oh, so the guys who drive the Ford Escort think that's (how fast his Ferrari goes) funny? How fast did you go today?"

My bud looked down into his beer then looked Mr Hollywood in the eye and said, "About 2,000 miles an hour."

The Director laughed and called BS but my buddy simply said, "I am an F 16 Pilot." Within minutes The Director lost his crowd of babes who were now swarming around the dashing, studly aviator types.
bastard...i was the guy with the ferrari.

ever play around at the tyndall (sp?) base in FL?...watched a lot of cool planes flying around when i was down there fishing in march.

So the Ferrari dude sort of ended up like this....

Ok guys...

The transfer case was me being told by a family friend of Vander Blue that he wasn't to happy with how things were going on and off the court. I happened to hang out with Vander two weekends ago and on two seperate occasions in the same night he almost got in a fight. People try and start fights with him and give him a hard time due to "him raping a girl as they said". Would you like to be in that position?

Also the transfer of Jamail Jones was talked about thoroughly the last few weeks. Then the Hiroshima talks went down. Im just connecting dots here. So yes I still believe its a defenite possibilty- meaning it could defenitely happen...

For the Lockett information. Someone who was friends with him said online that he was going to MU. Yes I got excited and shouldnt of said its "official and final". The Journal sentinel article on him seems to be hinting that he is coming here, just like the article that came out before durley. AAU coaches are used all the time for this matter.

David Hookstead is my source. He said he has sources close to both sides. He said he confirmed with multiple people. He also said don't expect an announcement today.

Later stating "I am aware of the visit, but I also know what he told the MU coaches. The visit to ISU  is likely a face to face to give the reason why its a no."

I personally believe it was pretty much final after he visited MU, just that they want to hold off on the anouncement based on his moms health. His visit to ISU is probably his back up plan.

I acted to soon I will admit. I thought it was official at the time and I let my emotions get the best of me. Sorry for making you guys this mad. Ill just become and avid reader instead of poster from now on.

Thanks for all the harsh comments toward my father and me wearing a blue suit to games...didn't know school spirit was frowned upon. Arent we all Marquette fans?

Yes, and that is the point.  We are all Marquette fans.  None is better than the other.  Just because you were awesome enough to get on TV a couple times, probably the awesome jumbotron a number of times, into a sweet magazine, and your dad is pretty awesome himself doesn't mean you're the end-all-be-all of Marquette fanatics.  In pretty much every single post you have made in this thread you have talked about how great of a fan you are in some way or another.  Such as this one, where you state you "happened to hang out with Vander two weekends ago."  Cool man!  Not really necessary, which is why nobody else does it.

If i've done it in every post on this thread please show me...

The only reason I brought up Vander was to show how it can be difficult for someone to get along with the student body when he is looked upon so negatively because of his off court issues.

back to the topic... it's been quiet for a few days, but today is Friday, time to release controversial news. I think this would still qualify as controversial since some people will tie it to Durley. Hoping for a commit at 5pm.

I know people that know him as well.  When he first got to school last year, he had a hard time.  He was young, immature, and it was his first time away from home.  Yeah, he got into trouble.

But those same people tell me that he is a good-hearted kid who struggled to make connections away from the team, but has come into his own off the court this year.  A little more comfortable in his own shoes...a little more self-confident.  And despite the rumors of his struggles at Memorial, is not a dumb kid.  Knowing this, I have no trouble believing what you are saying.  However, I really doubt he would be leaving on his own volition because he would have announced it already.

Not buying it. I don't doubt that students say things behind Vander's back, but I can't imagine any student approaching Vander, mouthing off and trying to pick a fight with him.

Your post is spot on. He is a good kid and generally well liked. He has an edge to him from what I hear, but overall he has matured a ton and not a problem. I am pullling for him big time.

Hah, no.  There is no Mrs. Wadesworld, and this is my first year post-campus.  Not to the point where I'd rather be back in school than in the "real world."  Maybe it'll come soon, but it isn't here yet.

Except this happened.  At Qdoba, when the student called him "Vander Orange," leading to the much talked about assault charge last year.  Vander Blue is not well-liked by the student body and I've heard some people spout nasty rumors about the kid.

Sorry if the idea of a jock being bullied bugs you...

you're assuming the student approached VB and not VB approaching him and his table... But that's a different topic than Lockett to MU.

The guy at Qdoba was upset that VB was hitting on his girlfriend. That's very different than approaching him at a party and trying to pick a fight.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get some Nikes?

I read on another board that he was actually called "Vander Black".   If true, it puts a whole different spin on the incident.

It does?  So because somebody made a racist comment that excuses his behavior?  I'm not saying the student didn't get what he deserved, but that's life.  You're going to run into stupid people throughout your lifetime, you need to pick and choose your battles.  Personally if it were me I'd think twice if i was in the great position Vander is in with a scholarship, POTENTIAL NBA, etc.

I agree... but everybody has had their fuse lit once in their life.

If this is a repeated thing, then I'd have more concern.

AND... to the kid who got punched... chalk that up to life experience.
