🪞, Antisemitism is rampant, hey?

Has been for centuries. You just didn't notice before because the call was coming from inside the house.

Sounds like the beginnings of a professional league.

Exactly that.

Quote
The new model, expected to be implemented in fall 2025, will permit schools to directly compensate athletes for their name, image and likeness (NIL) in a revenue-sharing concept that includes a quasi-salary cap

My feelings on Bryson have changed a half dozen times over his career and they probably did again yesterday. I think seeing Bryson play four times a year is the perfect amount, especially if he is contention. Can never see myself cheering for him, but he is a very good player and a good villain.

As for the PGA, my interest level was again low and spent less time watching than ever before. The divide in the game and the slew of low scores is not very interesting to me. I think I would have been more interested if Scottie, Lowry or Theegala would have been higher on the board going into the back nine.

While I like Scottie quite a bit, the most interesting part of the weekend was seeing struggle on Saturday. His play has been so incredible it was strange to see him struggle.

For all of the talk about NIL disparities, this has the possibility of accelerated resource disparities between the haves and have nots.

"If they reject a proposed settlement offer, officials from the NCAA and power conferences stand to face a catastrophic $20 billion in back damages as well as risking a bankruptcy filing, according to documents obtained by Yahoo Sports.

The two-page document was circulated among power conference presidents and administrators on Tuesday as ACC leaders met at their annual spring meetings in Florida. It details terms of a potential settlement in the House, Hubbard and Carter antitrust cases, a trio of legal challenges brought against the NCAA and its five power conferences seeking back pay for various athlete compensation elements.

The settlement, believed to be in the final stages of adoption, consists of three main concepts: billions in back damages; a new compensation model permitting schools to share as much as $22 million annually with athletes in a capped system; and an overhaul of the NCAA scholarship and roster structure."

The Big East isn't happy about the proposed settlement:

Well, I've driven all around Orlando and the surrounding area. Used to go there for work. I don't remember seeing anything there that made me say, "Wow, this is special. I gotta get back and see that again." But you're right; perhaps outside the touristy areas, there is not much objectionable, either.

I'll probably go to Orlando again someday if my wife ever participates in a grandkids-to-Disney trip. I've already said that I'm willing to foot the bill but that I'll be playing golf and enjoying a beverage somewhere well away from theme parks. I've already been to Disney/Universal more than a person needs to go there, and have no plans to go again.
Disney Magnolia golf course is actually pretty nice.

I have no reason to watch his YouTube channel, and I'll never watch an LIV event. So, as Unk said, I'll see him 4x a year, he'll maybe contend in 1-2 of those majors every year or three, and that will be plenty of Bryson for me.

Wags is right.  Bryson is a character.  I disagree with him the move to Saudi golf has been good for him.

He’s always had the social media stuff going on.  His crew have included his TikTok and YouTube videographers for years, even when a PGA member.  He got a ton of mainstream attention from the day he turned pro.  Now, he’s another sellout propping up an autocratic regime under the pretense of growing the game of golf.

When he first got to the tour, he had a big fanbase and then, well, he got more airtime and more time to talk.  That’s when he starting grating on people and exposed himself as not some weird golf intellect, but just another meathead golfer.  But I liked that meathead golfer because he was so outlandish.

He’ll win another major.  Probably.  Because he is a great golfer

Tell me you’ve only visited the touristy place in Orlando without telling me you’ve only visited the touristy places.

But yeah, the airport is awful.
