If a video of Jacobs throwing his girlfriend to the ground gets released by TMZ, I don't see how he can stay in the NFL.

Seems like a lot of posturing going on. If I'm reading the complaint correctly, it's saying there is video of them in the garage and Jacobs destroying her phone while she lays on the ground. My interpretation is that there isn't explicit video footage of him throwing her down.

Two misdemeanors here feels a bit like posturing. I'd argue the timing of these charges is not coincidental.

Hopefully Matt lafleur does the right thing and realizes establishing the run is only the second most important thing here behind being ethical.

A push to the ground is bad, but I'm not sure it is going to get him thrown out of the NFL, let alone off the Packers.  This isn't going to be a video of Ray Rice beating the hell out of his girlfriend.  Having said that, I haven't seen the video and I'm not defending his behavior, but this seems to be his first offense (correct me if I'm wrong) and he will most likely face a suspension of some sort.

I don't care about a destroyed phone.

Again, I am not condoning any of this behavior, I simply think the NFL isn't going to drop the hammer.

Having said all of this, I'd be fine if the Packers got out from under what they owe him and moved on.

Contract is paid off.  They just have to take the cap hit.

And my understanding is why Jacobs isn't facing a domestic violence charge is because of a technicality in Wisconsin law where you have to either live with, have a child with or be married to the alleged offender. And apparently none of those are the case. (Her official address is elsewhere.)

There is absolutely zero reason for the Packers to keep him around.

Well, winning football games is a reason.

That's Goff. Bagent 3 but could hop to 2. 9 is 4, McCord 5, McCarthy dead last.

Women? What are you, a caveperson?

Poles trading Dexter for a 5th round pick is an interesting move. I guess the DL must look way better than last year.

Unlike in baseball, the NFL salary cap prevents big market teams from stockpiling talent.

Donald last played in 2023 and is 35 years old. But he's back for one more run, now alongside fellow superstar Myles Garrett.

Yes adding a mid 30s guy who hasn't played the past two seasons to a team who last made the Super Bowl 5 seasons ago is incredibly similar to the World Series champion adding what had been the best closer in baseball, what had been a very good bat, and then traded for the back to back Cy Young winner.

Mostly I'm just messing with you, but methinks you're playing down the stockpiling the Rams have been doing.
They've added arguably the top two defensive linemen of their generation, plus two Pro Bowl corners. In relative terms, they've added more star power to their lineup this offseason than the Dodgers.
The fact remains, we've been told that a salary cap prevents this kind of thing. And yet it happens in every capped league.

And if it fails, cap ramifications that will effect how the team in the next few years will be built.

I get what you're saying, but cap management is a skill.  Rams wouldn't be able to build a star power team next year if this year tanks.

I'm willing to bet any amount of money that the MLBPA doesn't point to Donald returning to LA as an argument against a salary cap.  ::)

Plus, the Rams might be allergic ti draft picks.

Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I'm thinking you're overrating current day Aaron Donald by not an insignificant amount.
