Providence got a new coach... even before the portal rosters had huge turnover when that'd happen

... once players didn't have to sit a year.  How long ago was that dispensation granted to allow immediate eligibility if there was a coaching change... 2021? 5 yrs ago is still pretty recent and fresh to the casual observer/fan to see >50-80% turnover....

If Shaka doesn't add a backup center and we go into next season with Caedin Hamilton as that backup, Shaka should be fired before the season starts.

Just too tough to sell a backup role, imo. Don't see them throwing a bag at a rando when they didn't pay up for Sheek either. Looking like it will be Caedin and Clark. Just hope one of them develops in a serviceable backup.

Well, that and 'avante couldn't guard a shadow and never got in good enough shape to play a productive 30 minutes a game.  So, start Otule.   Worst decision Buzz ever made was to start them both.   Thinking about 'avante guarding perimeter players still makes me shudder.

Combine that with the fiasco that was Wojo's final season when his base line up was Garcia, Lewis, and Theo.
 
Simply cannot play two post players at the same time in the modern era.  Not on offense (5 out and/dribble drive concepts) or on defense (all  of the switching).

So, if MU gets a non-guard, I want another player of the size and athleticism of Royce.   Far more versatility.

... you do understand that if you win the tip and get the last possession of the game then you effectively get one more possession than your opponent?

It's not the biggest thing in the world,  but swimming the tip is an advantage.

Edit... I'd add, it's still way more frequent now.     

2021 gave everyone a free first time transfer, 2023 was when the courts invalidated that rule, allowing for unlimited transfers and all hell broke loose.

I'd imagine I'm in the majority with that opinion. You shouldn't survive 2 unserious seasons at Marquette, and some would argue having Hamilton in line to play minutes would make this the 3rd consecutive unserious season.

I think he will add another center because I think he knows this, but all of the good from this offseason will really be dampened if we ever have to watch him play here again.
