Quote from: SchnitzelBoy on April 21, 2026, 10:10:45 AMIf your backup PG role is covered, and that's a big if, then I think you can try to lure Donavan Davis into a reclass and redshirt scenario.

There's a strong possibility this really helped Sheek and we see a freshman campaign that is much better than it would have been had he stayed in HS. It's a good recruiting tool to get dudes on campus before your competition.

Yes, like 18 and Josh!

Good point! But I was talking about recruits that other schools have heard of and actually wanted... Josh and Caedin were "diamonds in the rough" prospects that there was no consensus on whatsoever and haven't panned out. Sheek was a top-75 recruit in his class, much like Davis.

Really, that's what we're calling them?
Bring back FFP!!!

Riley is likely going to Cincinatti. Outside shot of oklahoma

I am surprised that either Hamilton or Clark did not enter the transfer portal. With Fru starting and Pearson needing some minutes to develop, I cannot imagine that Hamilton plays much, and I suspect Clark will rarely see the floor. I understand that Shaka likes Hamilton, and I have no doubt that he is a good guy. But, what in the world do you do with four bigs - two of whom cannot play?

He should opt for Cincinnati instead.

Sheek can also play PF, so I think that MIGHT leave a few minutes at center for one of the two...

I think the minutes might line up this way:

Royce: 28
Fru: 24
Sheek: 24
Caedin/Josh: 4

That's not looking good (for them), especially if they play small and Damarius, MPIII, and Ian slot in at PF

Fru is gonna need to cut down on fouls for 25ish mins.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

He averaged 2.3 fouls in 22 mpg last year...

Assuming we do have at least one player transfer out next year, is there anyone that immediately comes to mind?

Yeah, 5 per 40. But he's never playing 40 so he should be good.

While I think 25 mpg isn't a big thing for him, would note he fouled out a couple of games, had like 5 4 foul games and many 3 foul games. Against tier A+B KenPom teams, his foul rate was over 5 per 40.

Personally I'd like to see more like 28 mpg, and foul trouble could cause issues in some games (could means will). Fortunately for Shaka he's got a guy on the bench who can do no wrong in his eyes, so we're "covered" for minutes Fru "has to" sit.

Gonna be painful to watch.

I think it's a little optimistic that Sheek plays 24 minutes per game as a freshman big.

Fast forward 3 years from my post below...

Terrence Brown is heading to North Carolina.

For some reason I thought I read it was higher. Good to know

Not sure why there's so much consternation about the very end of our bench. Hamilton and/or Clark should only see a few minutes per game or less if Fru, Sheek and Royce are healthy.

And honestly, having a few change-of-pace bigs who can absorb fouls is a very valuable asset.  They will help our team more in small doses than they did in big minutes last year.

Can't teach height.

SchnitzelBoy

Sheek won't be your average freshman as he'll have a year of D1 strength/conditioning under his belt. But I think it's reasonable to expect him getting 20 minutes a night between the PF/C.

There's been some discussion of whether MU should try to take a third player out of the portal or keep a scholarship open for a reclassification. That's an either or situation at this point. MU cannot do both unless another player leaves. There is a cost to keeping both Hamilton and Clark.

Don't remember where I saw it but someone mentioned several times he got in foul trouble early which would limit his minutes.
