Quote from: Rimrocker on April 20, 2026, 07:44:04 PMAt this point Minnesale will basically be replacing Chase.  While Chase had a disappointing season might it not be a stretch to think a guy coming from a low D1 team might not be an improvement?
Minnesale shot a quite poor percentage from 3, so he should fit right in in that regard.  But I fail to see how this is an improvement at a position that helped lead to a very bad season.
I am glad we got him as the alternative would have been to keep Tre, which was a complete disaster.
However, to be frank I do find it disappointing that the top teams in our conference and the top teams in the other conferences are managing to fill positions of need with proven players from proven conferences.  Why is MU seemingly unwilling to compete to be a top team?, players like Kayden Mingo, Matt Able, are out there and we go with a low D1 player coming off a 12 win season? I appreciate we did something it just seems like MU is settling.

Part of me questions how badly Shaka wants to win. Before Oso and Kolek's last year I felt MU was a big shouldered banger away from competing for a national title and we gave up defensive rebound after defesive rebound and under performed while not filling a hole of glaring need.
Same thing before last year.  I am glad we are finally doing something, but it just seems Shaka is not all about seizing that opportunity that does not just come along every year.

Thoughts?

Agreed, doesn't seem like Shaka wants to win.

There's so much wrong with this.

"We want Marquette active in the portal!"

No, not like that!

"Why didn't we get someone from a power conference?"

We did, got a guy from Louisville.

"Big East schools are outportaling us!"

Marquette has added 2 consensus top-100 portal players at areas of need and can still add a 3rd.

Has the ship sailed on Tre returning? Maybe a marginal upgrade could be found or maybe they can get one of the 3 top PGs they are after in 27 (Davis, Pemberton, Cleveland) to reclassify.

And retained every player we wanted retained.

One of the most exciting young PGs in the nation returns.  Solid player in Stevens, a progrum guy who shot pretty good as a Frosh.  Parham was a dude the last month of the season.  Worst game was in a 22-point win.  Needs to be a better passer.

Legit excited for Egubuonu and Sheek.  Heck, even Phillips in year 2.

Let's see if the metrics on paper actually reflects what happens on the court next season.

Nice! In back-to-back posts, you combined a reminder of last season's drought with preparing for failure this coming season. Kudos!

No I think you're right.......i mean junior year Jimmy Butler averaged 14 points a game........which is the same as senior year Chase........and we know they were basically the same player.

Just spoke to Shaka, and he told me that he hates winning.

I know I'm not the most normal guy in the world, but holy crap there are some weird f**ks on here.

Anyway, great to have NM on board. Evans would be excellent. In my idea world we add him or another big, PLUS a guy who can swing some backup PG mins if needed (and, therefore, one more transfer out). This result seems unlikely at this point, but one can hope.

Ideal vs. idea.
