Quote from: Small Orange Soda on April 21, 2026, 03:30:54 PMI'm complaining because Shaka has continually failed to recognize his lack of abilities. And the counter is "He'll be the 14th or 15th guy" for someone in his fourth year in the program. People defending him on this board don't even think he's good.

Think of him as a good program guy who is 14th or 15th man on rosters that used to have walk ons in that role.

Much more important things to spend your time obsessing about

Makes sense.  Couldn't get it done academically at Madison so had to step a level down there.

Quote from: The Sultan on April 21, 2026, 03:35:22 PMHE CUT HIS MINUTES LAST SEASON!!!

HE JUST RECRUITED A TRANSFER POST PLAYER!!!

My Lord...too many of y'all are focused on the first part of last season instead of everything that happened since then.

ROTATIONS TIGHTEN AT THE END OF THE YEAR!!!

WE JUST LOST A 6'11 PLAYER!!

HE'S STILL HERE!!!!!!!!

And I'm actually focused on the last two seasons.

Galway Eagle

So now that we've determined Fru & Sheek are bench and bit players with Caedin & Josh playing 30mpg then I wonder why they came here at all.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

noblewarrior

Predicting Caedin pulls a Sean Jones and stays with the team this year, plays very little (< 7 min/game), gets his MU degree (I'm under the impression Sean did graduate), and transfers out next year.  We fill his spot next year with another 1 yr senior rental post player.

Just throwing crap at the wall.  We'll see if it stuck this time next year.  This mind reading/ speculating stuff if fun... and very Scoopy.

Your hypothesis is the most sensible guess or it could be Shaka doesn't care about winning.  I'll probably go with that

That's not why his minutes were cut. He wasn't getting the job done. Did you watch the games?

Fru plays nothing like Gold. Completely different player.

And? As I said earlier, you have no idea what his role is going to be.

So congrats...you went 0 for 3.

Good for Blackwell.  Wasn't going to see the floor at UW-Madison and he can go to a place that won't require rigorous academic requirements like Agricultural Journalism.

He should be use to a home whistle, too.

I'm certainly not obsessed about it, but walk ons are affectionately known as human victory cigars.  Sometimes in the rare case blowout loss mop-up minutes.

Despite all the downplaying of their playing time, that certainly wasn't the roll for Hamilton (even at the end of the year), and not really for Clark either (although, it was closer).

Do I project that next year?  No.  But I still think Hamilton could be first off the bench to replace Fru, which, if true, is sorta a problem.

Anyhow, Shaka has done well to replace 2 who left.  I'd still prefer a little more experienced talent on the roster, but I don't think he opened up enough spots to achieve that.

His minutes got cut the year before too. From very little to none. This past year his minutes went from starter minutes to coming off the bench minutes.

Gold's minutes need to be replaced that he spent out of position at center. Do you not know simple math?

And I'm relying on a pattern, you're relying on...

So 3 for 3 by me. Nice.

Quote from: Small Orange Soda on April 21, 2026, 03:11:17 PM9 minutes is certainly not nothing.

And now that Fru and Sheek are on the roster you expect that to continue why?

CountryRoads

Quote from: Zog from Margo on April 21, 2026, 11:56:05 AMThere is a cost to keeping both Hamilton and Clark.

I'm ok with the cost (e.g. missing out on one of the 4 Top 50 recruits we are after who would likely only commit here in a scenario where they would reclassify this summer). Shaka committed to these guys and they should have the opportunity to graduate from MU. Caedin won the academic award at the banquet, so the degree at least means something to him. Going forward though, I would prefer these commitments are to guys who at least have one other D1 offer. Preferably one other high major offer, but that is probably asking too much.

It's not that black and white.

Who hasn't played a minute of D-1 ball.

Look, I'm not saying Hamilton is necessarily going to be playing meaningful minutes by the end of the season. But if he's playing non garbage time minutes against Michigan or Missouri in November, that's a problem.

A lot will have to go wrong for Hamilton to be the first off the bench for Fru.

Quote from: rocky_warrior on April 21, 2026, 04:03:27 PMIt's not explicitly stated, but that seems to be the conclusion of Shaka's portaling this year.

Was kind of wondering the same. If another guy was lined up then maybe they wait for the official announcement

Vander Blue Man Group

Quote from: Zog from Margo on April 21, 2026, 03:37:35 PMMU has one open scholarship. They have to decide whether to try to pursue someone in the portal or bank it. The decision to keep both Hamilton and Clark limits that decision to an either/or. That isn't a hypothetical. If Shaka keeps both it means he believes it's worth the cost and not that there is no cost.

Unless a reclass is an actual possibility it's a hypothetical.

You mean like Pearson not being ready?  Am I missing anyone else on the depth chart?
