Lord, I've seen what you've done for others

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Somto Cyril would be incredible.  Also, incredibly expensive.

Plus, he has an agent. And Shaka famously won't deal with agents ... except when he does.

Seriously, this would be a great get, but a whole lot of fanbases are saying that about Cyril and the other top 5s out there.

the last transfer from George Mason worked out quite well for MU:

Pfft ... like a George Mason kid could ever succeed at Marquette.

Hope TK is telling him how much he enjoyed his time at Marquette.

I don't think we need to discount every player who has an agent from transferring to MU... If Shaka Smart has stated that they're planning on "evolving" or whatever coach-speak he used to admit he was going to add transfers, then I think we can take all of those assumptions off the table.

-Somto Cyril (averages a few blocks per game) fits the bill for sure.

-Riley Allenspach seems like Ben Gold but from the A10, which I'd be okay with but not pumped about.

-Daniel Freitag would be huge as he could play alongside Nigel and also slot in at PG. Downside is he's only 6'2" and we need some positional size in the back court.

-Kyle Evans grabs a ton of boards and blocks shots, albeit at a much lower level.

-Money Williams from Montana. Don't know jack squat about the dude but we need a back court of Nash Walker and Money Williams on the floor at some point. Incredible name.

-Drew Fielder could be a fit but seems like a loser but playing on one of those dreadful Gtown squads will do that.

-Devin Royal adds heft but I think Alex Egbuonu (6'6") is the same player, albeit younger. A combo of MPIII and DO makes this redundant. Spend the $$$ on a big man.

Best of luck to Sean. I hope he's able to get more than a single year of eligibility.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Somebody in the Marquette Athletic Department must have read this.

Why be so smug when we have lost recruits because Shaka didn't want to deal with agents, as he's been quoted as saying? Has he changed his mind? Hopefully!

I don't think this is accurate. Egbuono reportedly had an agent. I think what Shaka said is that having an agent wouldn't affect what MU provides. He didn't say he wouldn't deal with them.

Lucas Morillo was lost to Illinois because of it.

The Sultan

He didn't care if players have agents. He supposedly cared that they would use agents to negotiate more NIL from Marquette.

My guess is that position has since changed.

Egbuono came to MU despite having an agent. Illinois likely offered more to Morillo.

You know what? that's fair. It's just been reported. I shouldn't have said quoted.

At the same time he hasn't, though. Until now.

Because it always seemed like a false narrative and/or strawman.

Plus, nobody ever provided proof that Shaka rejected recruits or transfers who had agents ... and in fact, he provided proof (Egbuonu) that he was willing to deal with a player who had an agent.

You have a background in reporting. Do you think it was untrue?

I mean, Shaka literally signed a top-80 recruit who had an agent.

And I do not even know who "reported" this supposed aversion to dealing with players who had agents ... other than Scoopers who kept repeating it.

It was something behind the scenes that was spoken about, so yeah, I can't give you a bunch of sources. And Sultan did say that it's not that way anymore. So props.

But it was. So you, VBMG, and Wades could maybe take a step back and recognize, 'hey, Shaka effed up and he was wrong. That's why we had the worst season in 35 years. He's now trying to fix it and that's a good a thing. The people criticizing him for his way of doing things weren't all wrong'.
