Intriguing.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Quote from: MU82 on March 30, 2026, 07:14:29 PMMy key words were "can be."

The environment at NCAT seems to have been DefenseNoMatta. Put him in a program where defense matters, surround him with athletes who work on defense, coach him up, and who knows? Guys definitely can improve significantly on that end, as our own David Joplin showed.

Now, would Marquette be the right program to make that happen for Lewis Walker? That's a good question.

Ignoring data in favor of wild speculation is certainly a choice.

Quote from: MU82 on March 30, 2026, 05:06:05 PMI have no idea whether some guy I never saw play at North Carolina A&T can be a good defensive player ... and I'm guessing you have no idea, either.

Please look up the player. Watch him run and play 5 defensive possessiones. If you can't find a college game look up his high school tape. Played for CP3. Look at his body composition.

Then just look at his defensive stats. Look at north carolina A&T's defensive stats.

I just want to see people link us to players who think "defense matta"

I bet the MEAC message boards have lively conversations about potential MU transfers.

Thing you have to love about some MU fans......can't let an opportunity to bash one of our players go by when they have a chance to take it........

Walker is only a freshman. People forget how weak a defender Butler was his first year at MU. I'm not sure why Walker's body type prevents him from being a good defender, but MU could use some girth and some guys who can finish through contact. In any event, who knows if MU is even interested.

That's fair. But you're so negative about everything that you're kind of "the boy who cried 'Sucks!'" So it's hard to know when to take your negativity seriously or just dismiss it.

Eeyore69 bashes the team, the coach and the school. I have no idea why he is even here.

He was never a weak defender. That's really the only reason he played for much of his first year.

I disagree. He became an outstanding defender but he was not a good one when he arrived at MU. But that's beside the point. The point is that freshmen are often poor defenders.

You for got the Big East and I am here because I want the team to be as competitive as UCONN, but I guess that is too much to ask.

How does you being here have any bearing on if Marquette can be as competitive as UConn?

If it turns out to be accurate (I think it probably is), then thank you, Tre, for your time at MU and good luck with all of your future endeavors.

Mentioned it in a different chat, but hopefully Nevada Smith needs to bring a center along with him to Siena, because that's our angle to free up a roster spot from the front court.

How does being on Scoop for anyone have anything to do with the teams performance? Absolutely nothing. We just express our opinions and nothing else. I look forward to see who transfers to Marquette. As of now we have 2 slots to fill.

Caedin and/or Josh don't have to leave to add to the front court.

It's also better for the program that Nevada Smith stays.  The offense did it's job last season - the players simply weren't good enough.

I'm not wishing Nevada away, but it seems like it's a better than 50% chance he's gone.

The front court doesn't need subtractions for additions, but it is still necessary to subtract. The guys we have simply are not good enough and don't belong in the Big East.

No one has said otherwise.

I would expect Sean to enter the portal in the near future.  There's the 3 spots we need.  We'll see if anyone else departs.
