Lewis Walker from NC A&T is in the portal. 6'6", 230 lbs., 37% from 3. 19 pts. 5 rebs. per game.

We beat them out for Henry.
Perhaps Byrd has a less-talented brother we can bring into the fold?

cheebs09

I certainly wouldn't assume we'd beat out Kentucky, but I don't think Pope's Kentucky is the same as Calipari's on the recruiting trail.

Probably matters less for one of the worst shooting teams in the country. I also suspect that defensive stats are a lot harder to evaluate.

Do I think he can shoot. Yea, I do his FT percentage is 86% on 200+ attempts.

But anytime you can add a player from the worst team in the CAA. I got questions.

It isn't the worst option, he had at least one high major offer at one point.

I have no idea if he's good or a fit or whether MU would be interested.

Money Williams of Montana is in the portal. He has to be a priority just for the name. Looks like he can score.

Jackson State's Daeshun Ruffin, the SWAC player of the year after averaging 23.3 ppg/5.3 apg, entered the portal.
In completely unrelated news, Kentucky just hired Jackson State head coach Mo Williams as an assistant.

Having had the experience of personally meeting some "LU" grads, I can assure anyone who doubts you that you are correct.

He did have the scoop on Lowery. But I guess, like Bee Jay (pause), if you throw enough darts at a dartboard you'll eventually get at least one bullseye.

I have no idea whether some guy I never saw play at North Carolina A&T can be a good defensive player ... and I'm guessing you have no idea, either.

Does anyone know why we haven't heard of any current MU players entering the portal?

noblewarrior

Possibly because it's not officially open...and our guys can work more privately until then on securing a destination?

From a web search... Googles... "The NCAA men's basketball transfer portal officially opens on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the day after the national championship game. This is a change from previous years, as the portal will now open later and have a shorter 15-day window for players to enter."

Advanced metrics can give you a pretty good idea.  And it looks like the player in question is indeed quite a poor defender, with a negative D-BPR.

My key words were "can be."

The environment at NCAT seems to have been DefenseNoMatta. Put him in a program where defense matters, surround him with athletes who work on defense, coach him up, and who knows? Guys definitely can improve significantly on that end, as our own David Joplin showed.

Now, would Marquette be the right program to make that happen for Lewis Walker? That's a good question.

Could be they are just waiting until after the Banquet to announce........doesn't mean they aren't talking to people now.

MU82

Nobody's leaving. Even Lowery ... he's coming back!

So no incoming transfers - all the Eeyores were right.
