Tre and Zaide did a great job when Kam was on the bench, and the whole team really stepped up during that time. Really, really good to see.

Has anyone come across Shaka's postgame press conference?  I can't find it on YouTube.

Quote from: tower912 on January 28, 2025, 09:42:34 PMI have a mile walk back to the car.  Deal with it.
1. Matta would not let Screen face Ben. First time they were on the floor at the same time was the 1130 mark of the second half.  Exactly two minutes game play.  Then again at the end.
2. In the first half, Butler fans around us were in awe, as their team 'never shoots like that.'
3. The defense was much improved for a while in the second half.
4. Kam's 4th was a kick in the nards.  Right call.
5.  How about those sophomores?
6. Stevie continues to climb the list of my favorite all time players.
7.  I trust Shaka's halftime adjustments.
8. MU won.  Hinkle is awesome.  Only about 3/4 full.

That's a normal Hinkle crowd for a weeknight game. It's not the most convenient campus to get to and the 8:30 start hurt. It would be nice to get the MU game on a weekend, it would be packed to the rafters. First time there?

Butler starting Moore was for defensive purposes (upper body strength) and he definitely frustrated Kam. The second foul was out of frustration pushing off like that. Kapke started the previous few games for Butler and didn't even play last night. I don't know if he was injured. He has the ability to spread the floor and hit threes.

1/12 from three in the second half for Butler. 8/31 overall. And the three Bizjak hit was when the game was pretty much out of reach.

I thought the play of the game was at the end of the first half with Butler up 9. King got to the rim and Stevie got the block and score on the other end to cut it to 7. It seemed to stop Butler's momentum and set the tone for the second half.

We had one idiot Butler student in front of us who kept yelling down at the MU section derogatory things about Milwaukee. Others were telling him to chill out and he left at the 4 minute TO.

I think that was my 7th time to Hinkle for this matchup.

5th weekday.

That was the smallest crowd I've seen. I think the Matta luster/support bump has worn off and the results haven't been good enough to drive attendance.

Hinkle is fine for that size school. They've done well with it. When the place is full, it's LOUD cause there's a lot of students almost on the court.

Quote from: Scoop Snoop on January 28, 2025, 10:27:34 PMSeveral, to me, means about 3 or so. If you want to call 10 minutes several and that makes you happy, good for you.

Several to many means more than too, but less than many.

For me (truth seeker), two is a couple, three is a few and four to seven is several.

Therefore, I disagree somewhat with all involved!!!

I will go with "Kam was on the bench for a LONG AS$ time".

I'm so pumped about Tre from last night.

We've seen flashes from Parham, Owens, and Lowery, but Tre really controlled parts of that game last night. Anytime we can add confidence to any player (particularly off the bench) I take that as a major win. Hopefully they can build off that confidence.

Same. I've been a lot more bullish than most on him. Seeing the switch flip to aggressive was nice.

Quote from: MUDPT on January 29, 2025, 05:58:11 AMThis. Also wouldn't have near the history without "Hoosiers" or the 1954 Milan championship. Cool venue, probably not near D1 standards.

The problem lies in, how would they replace it?  Too expensive to build a state of the art new facility, especially near campus (no room, unless Butler buys up part of the surrounding neighborhood).  They could knock it down and rebuild on the same spot, but they would have to bus the students to Pacers home court downtown for a season or two, and need to raise the hundreds of millions needed to build the new facility.

Hinkle is quaint and intimate setting for a college basketball game, a glorified high school gym.  It's about 100 years old, and feels like it, even after updates and renovations.

I get why people like to visit Hinkle for the historic aspect of it all. But it would annoy me if that were my team's home arena.

Hinkle is way better than the Fieldhouse was. That place was an absolute dump, but they've done a nice job making it a home for volleyball.

Maybe I'm a sucker for an old gym, but I loved my visit there. Outside of putting actual seats in the 200/300 sections, I think the seating bowl was perfectly fine.

The main problems are the concourses, which you can't do a ton about, and that it's the hub of the athletic department, so that takes up a bunch more space that might serve other purposes.

Quote from: wisblue on January 28, 2025, 10:02:07 PMGood to see that the team was able to add to the lead with Kam on the bench for several minutes.

But I wouldn't want to make a habit of that along with the habit of falling behind by double digits in the first half. That isn't going to cut it in the second half of the conference schedule

Before last night, Kam hadn't had 4 fouls in a game since 11/15 vs Maryland and only had as many as 3 in a game three times.

So yes, I wouldn't want it to be a habit ... but it hasn't been anything close to a habit for well over 2 months.

Kam has played a TON of minutes, and thank goodness for that!!

There was a point midway through the 1st half where all the starters had had time on the bench except for Kam. I was gonna mention that now might be the portion of the season where Shaka just starts to play Kam close to 40 a night...soon after I had that thought, Kam picked up his second foul. In the end, I love how yesterday played out.

Not saying first half play hasn't been an issue, but we've been leading at halftime in 5 of our 10 conference games.

Better than leading in 5/10 at the end of the game. Just win baby.

We were at the Upland bar at the MU alumni event prior to the game.  49th and College.  We walked to and from the game from there rather than bother with the shuttle.
