What a great game.  Ross was super.  The 3 guys in the studio all picked Gt.  What was wrong with Gold tonite?  Couldn't hit anything, threw the ball away.  Hope Jolpin can learn how to dribble and not lose the ball.

Jop played pretty well, especially down the stretch. Gold had a rough game, but at least made Sorber work for his buckets. They're not superstars but they're both very good.

Tha Hound

Jop was fine. Hit some clutch buckets. Ben...man I don't know what to say. I guess his defense on Sorber was ok?

As bad as Gold was offensively, he was good defensively. Helping, keeping Sorber under his average, 4 blocks, 4 steals.

His D was not bad. His shooting was (especially the bunny that anyone else 6'11" would have jammed).

Joplin and Gold both played fine. I think the Gold played poorly opinion comes from the box score TO's. But those were on Owens and Joplin deciding to cut when they shouldnt have.

The issue tonight was the staff rotating in the first half like we were playing againist a DII team

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Hopefully this thread does for Gold and Jop what the Chase Ross thread did for Chase.

Shooter McGavin

Ben walled up multiple times on defense disrupting shots at the rim without fouling and played Sorber well.  Had some good rebounds but also fumbled several. His hesitation on offense with the ball in his hands also was a little concerning tonight.  Not giving up on him.  Hopefully he learns from this game going against multiple players with that type of size and wing span.

Needs to do that dunking drill Shaka had Oso do when he first arrived in town.  Those dunk opportunities can't be 50/50 front rim layups against better teams.  They need to be 100% power dunks.

The play-by-play guys were routing for the Hoyas too. Marquette ranked 7th in the country and all they could talk about was Sorber.

Ben was the only shot we had at defending their bigs down low. He did a nice job on that end.

His head didn't seem right. And he got hurt early in the 2nd half and had to go to the locker room, came back taped up. Was less mobile after that. We need him to be better, but will cut some slack for this one.

Lappas is a lap dog for whoever plays Marquette.

The game became a true joy when I turned on music and muted the game. Chase made the big dunk over the gtown player at the strings crescendo part of "Jesus, Etc." and Lappas was on mute. Pure perfection.

He's repetitive as dickie simpkins but not as unintentionally funny.

He starting talking about the zone on the first possession — a full 5-7 mins before it was deployed and said the word zone 267 times.  He's like that every time...gets a tidbit from a coach and there is your 2 hours.

Luckily I was at the game and didn't have to listen to Lappas, but that dude has blatantly cheered against Marquette every time I've listened to him. And I've had that misfortune 10-20 times. Not sure what that's about.

And he's a terrible color guy even when he's unbiased.

Watch the replay on how hard they tried to jinx us at the FT line late 😂

Go back and watch the play..right as Gold jumped Kam ran right into his launch point and Gold stumbled on his launch as a result.  Unfortunate sequence, but he still should have made the layup.  Similar play later in the game he finished with dunk through contact.  37 minutes for Gold is a lot as he's giving up some strength to guys like Sorber.

Didn't notice that Gold got hurt. Thanks for the observation.

Yes, Lappas is bad ... but he wasn't wrong about what Marquette needed to do against the zone.

Wally and the coach picked GTown.  Parrish went with MU.  Georgetown's length bothered Kam all night.  There's a reason the Hoyas are a top two point defensive team in the nation so far this year.  It's tough to get the ball over that size in the paint.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Jop was okay on offense and Ben was terrible. Jop was good on defense and Ben was stellar. Both were overall positives tonight.

Sober is good.  The announcers crew was hyping him.  He had a double double.   Because of switches.  When Ben stayed home on Sorber, he absolutely stymied him.

you feel Gold is 'very good'? Tonight some good things...4 stls /4 blks. But overall, I'd call him serviceable...more positive than negative.

Beautifully done.  That is so silly that I am not going to fix it.

Had to mute the game until we were back in the lead, and even then, it was painfully obvious they were still hoping Georgetown would come back and win.
