Really nice win, great to get that monkey off the back. You could see from the get go Kam wasn't going to let us lose.

Ben played a nice game and a great 2nd half. That shot is still flat as a pancake, but if he can get it in who cares.

Even Tre had some real positive minutes. I thought Kam sat a little long in the 1st half (he didn't have 2 did he?) But they kept it together without him.

Get Dayton and about as good a non-con as anyone in the country.

Quote from: WarriorFan on December 07, 2024, 03:07:54 PMIt's clear why Tonje is not playing pro ball despite being 32 years old... everything he does is a violation of some sorts.  In a straight up game with a real whistle on hooks, pushoffs, travels, etc - he'd do nothing because he's not very quick and not a good shooter.  Best he'll ever be is the guy at the YMCA that you just want to punch.

I just doubled the amount of turnovers he was credited for.  Constant traveling, arm bars, and push offs.

To be fair I'm not sure how good Purdue and Whisky are, but I actually think the potential of our team is as good as last year.  And I didn't think that when the season started.

Sat Tonje too long with three fouls.  Once the whistles evened up it was lights out.  They were lucky to have the performance from Klismet to keep it close.

Quote from: tower912 on December 07, 2024, 03:15:56 PMThe frosh, and I include Caedin, are so freaking close right now.  They are attacking fearlessly, which is what Shaka wants and the only way to get better.  We can all see the potential.  Eventually, they, like others before, will figure out how to work with their teammates to get even better shots.  And how to use their skills and gifts to move their feet on defense like the starters.

The future is bright for those guys.

This is my thought as well, and most importantly they are getting quality minutes and reps against really good teams. That will pay huge dividends moving forward, and into next year.

Win next week and a BE title probably means a 1 seed.

But Iowa State is about as good a team as anyone in the country and we gave them a serious run without 2 key players (particularly key players on defense).

And Purdue did beat both Alabama and Ole Miss (both top 25 teams and Alabama a top 10 team).

There's no doubt Iowa St. is really good.  They can match our speed and have a bit more physicality.

Quote from: Tyler COLEk on December 07, 2024, 02:41:21 PMA-grade second half. Great win battling through some significant injuries. Ideal timing for the week off.

Shaka and the coaching staff proving once again how incredible they are when it comes to second-half adjustments.

Nine turnovers combined for Tonje and Blackwell, which gave them 17 in their two games this week. They are not bad players, obviously, but they are loose with the ball and it's difficult for a team to win when its two primary ballhandlers play give-away so often. (Meanwhile, Kam has the ball constantly but had zero turnovers.)

Gold was awesome, especially in the second half. A total wall on defense. And how bout that behind-the-back pass to Norman?!?!

Ross and Stevie - awesome hustle and D, and some big offensive plays, while playing through pain. Jop did a great job finding other ways to contribute on offense with his 3 not falling. Some nice drives and a great pass to Kam.

And Kameron Jones ... All-Freakin'-American. Period. We've been so lucky to get to watch him play for four years.

Tremendous work by our training staff getting all of our walking wounded guys not only ready to play but ready to play at a high level. Well done!

Only negative was failing to mark Klesmit on every possession. We made him look like J.J. Redick.

I really do think Shaka and our players have what it takes to be a Final Four team ... but I mean, it was only Madison, so I don't wanna get too carried away!

They could not match our game speed in the 2H.  It was beautiful to watch.

I will enjoy this one for a while, but next year's matchup between these teams should be interesting. Both teams lose a bunch of players and UW can no longer take advantage of the Covid year with fifth- and sixth-year seniors.

Ya...I'm not sold on Whisky despite your points being spot on.  And they could have big probs if Tonje and Blackwell are called for their left arm hooks off the dribble.

Sure, and I was a doubter coming into this season.

But Marquette had Kam. Next season we've got Chase, and Damarius offensively...

A bit different, but yes I should learn to trust Shaka and staff
