"If we finish off this recruiting class on a high note and have another good year next year, with one 2018 already signed up (Bailey) we may be on the verge of a new era of sustained basketball success which would be known to all as the Golden Eagles era." - Herman Cain

He's a  "big" gamble but makes sense for late lottery. Bad teams need to take chances.

Bulls trade down 10 spots in round to the 55th spot and get some cash.  What a stupid organization

I seriously think JR does trades for cash consideration more than any NBA or MLB owner.

Jerry has pretty much said the optimal season outcome is to just miss the playoffs, as to avoid roster bonuses.

I've told my Reinsdorf interaction stories here a few times in the past. I'll tell this one again.

Summer 2000, my first job out of Marquette is working as a sales rep for the Bulls. My cubicle was at the United Center, thought it would be the greatest job ever.

We were not allowed to have email or access to the internet. I didn't have a cell phone then (smartphones were still years away). Late on a Friday in June, I called my buddies that were still at Marquette and I was heading up to Milwaukee for the weekend. I called them from my office phone to plan things, maybe on the phone at most for 5 minutes.

Following week I get an envelope on my desk from finance. It was an invoice saying I owed the organization $6.97 for a long distance phone call to a 414 area code. Mind you, we had STH's in Wisconsin (and other out of state places). I had to write a check for $6.97 to the team.

So yes, the Bulls are cheap.

Do we know anything about the competency of his kids?  Who's going to take over this debacle when he dies?  I dunno if it's true but I've heard he'll sell the White Sox but not the Bulls?  Who the H trades down for cash in his financial position?

He's 89.  The guy is worth north of 2 billion.  Why on earth would saving that tiny amount of coin be remotely important to him?
