Who from scoop will be in attendance?   C'mon all of you local guys.

Heard Owens looked pretty impressive.
Did no scoopers attend the open practice?  I need my MU basketball fix.

#11
Go to the Dodds board.

Hamilton looked quick
Owens looked good.
Sean not introduced with team.

Get ready for the defense being the star of the show. While I loved our offense the last two years, I have waiting to watching the defense under Shaka from day one. Might not need to wait much longer!

MU was #17 last year in defense according to Kenpom.  Are you saying we could be top 10 Goose? If so, that gets me giddy.

Goose

Biz

I am giddy with what I am hearing about the defense. Have heard from multiple folks I trust over the past few weeks and believe it will drive the success of the season.

Have not idea what the ranking will be, but fully expect it to look a great deal different and will be fun to watch if you like defense.

Owens, Ross and Lowery are an exciting trio.  Sure hope Tre can step up, but I just didn't see it with him last year and he came in the most heralded of last year's class.

Stevie, Chase, and Zaide are three elite caliber defenders.  Add the athletic and long freshman, Owens, to those three..and Kam for offense...fun lineup to contemplate.  Other than potential rebounding issues.

I never like to come home from these things and say this guy's going to be really good or that guy sucked. These are pick-up games with referees and nothing more. Ask me in 6 months.

But Owens was playing well against guys with college experience. He'll find his way.

Caedin Hamilton?? Raw as purely a basketball talent but we were told that when he signed. I think once the strength and conditioning people work with him, good things will happen.

JTJ3

Tre started slow but I thought he was really good in the 2nd half of the scrimmage portion.  Still adjusting to his new shooting form but he hit a rhythm 3 and had a couple nice finishes.  Having Stevie guard you doesnt make it easy either.

Caedin is quicker then Gardner ever was, decent shape already, just has not played high level basketball long enough.

I actually have to take my comment about Norman back. I'm writing up something for Paint Touches and took videos of each possession. Rewatching and filling in the box score, he actually had a solid game. In real time I had mistakenly credited his three to someone else. He finished with 7 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists. All the points came in the second half. Played his usual brand of solid defense.

The main reason for my comment was that Owens brought the ball up more often than Norman did despite the other 2 possible PGs (Kam and Stewie) being on the other team. My thought was that if the staff view Owens as a PG, then I wasn't sure what role there would be for Norman. But after watching the tape, Owens brought the ball up...but had 0 assists. There's still a role for Norman.

If my count is correct, Caedin finished with 0 points (on 0 shot attempts), 1 rebound, and he had 5 turnovers in a 24 minute game. I'm willing to chalk it up as an off night but he looked a bit lost at times. He did have two steals and a nice block though.

So how about Al? Did he show anything more?

Are you as excited about the defense as I am?
