If that is the case (I think you are on the right path, Herman) my guess is the early finalists are Broeker and Josetti internally, Hardin (Drake), and maybe Pintens externally (though I don't think Pintens ever worked with Scholl).

Pintens hasn’t been at Marquette for a couple decades now.

Here’s the timeline. Seems like a waste of time and money if it is going to be Broeker or Josetti. Hell, seems like a waste of money to use these firms in general

It might be an internal hire.  It might not be.  Any time a leadership role of this magnitude on a college campus becomes open, it is in the school's best interest to open the position up, use a firm to help identify interested candidates and ultimately select the best candidate for the job.

As someone who has hired through search firms, and applied through search firms, they are a huge time saver for the school and gives applicants an extra measure of confidentiality. It also allows a candidate to have a more in depth conversation about the position with someone not employed by the school.

If the University already has a short list, it's a shame they have to go through the dog and pony show of hiring a search firm to demonstrate that they have done their due diligence.

It's a six-figure waste of money.

as I picked up on this topic and scrolled down(for a change) this was exactly what was going thru my mind as well.

remind them that craigslist is free...$25 for healthcare ;)

Men's lax coach a couple of weeks ago and now men's / women's track and xc coach out.
Is Bill trying to do some housecleaning ahead of the new AD?

The new LAX coach is a MU grad and looks to be an excellent hire. Track is entering a new era of having no scholarships, possibly leading to his decision to step down.

Does it? It looks like a program trying to hire someone on the cheap.

Do you follow lax whatsoever or are you talking out of your ass?

Why can't it be both?

I asked a question because hiring a 30 year old assistant coach from the same program where the head coach was fired doesn’t seem like an “excellent hire.”

I am not sure what additional insight one would get by having an in-depth conversation with someone not employed by the school -- especially if that person is being paid by the school and the person is hiring for that one specific position.  If it is a recruiter who is marketing you to a number of institutions and is trying to find the best fit for you personally, that might be a different story.
Have some patience, FFS.

Marquette used a search firm (the same firm) for its recent Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball Coaching hires.

The Women’s Soccer team has yet to hire an Associate Head Coach/Top assistant coach after 4 months. They have hired a 2nd and 3rd assistant, one of which was very recent. (Typically more competitive programs have a HC, 3 assistants, and a soccer experienced ops director.

It’s often said that some AD’s have a short list of 3 to 5 HC candidates for every sport at all times, regularly updated.

Budget and compensation have been factors in MU’’s HC hires, as well as staff hires.

Wow.  You and I have both been on this board a long time, and I don't remember you being as mean-spirited as you have been recently.

If you are going through something, I hope for your own sake you are able to work through it soon.

I attended the Wade vs Diener tipoff party last night. I overhead a member of the Athletic Department tell a friend of mine that eleven of the current athletic directors in the ACC have expressed interest in the AD position.

Turmoil in the ACC aside, I am not surprised it is a highly coveted position.  I imagine that Shaka is an AD's dream as far as coaches go - smart, successful guy who runs a squeaky clean program full of highly motivated and intelligent kids, and no real egos to manage.  And you don't have to deal with all the mess that comes with running a football program.
Have some patience, FFS.
