They beat us the same way they've won the other 7 in a row. I thought it was luck, but their defense has been forcing some bad 3 point performances.
Unless their defense involves purposely leaving good shooters wide open for 3's and being good hopers that they'll miss, their defense had little impact on that game

I know you're trying to be positive but there is plenty to be ashamed of.

I mean I'll be fine but this was our chance man. Can't ask for a better setup and they blew it. It's a failure and that's okay.

Well I won't view it as you do.

I feel bad for Joplin, I don't know if the lights were too bright or what, that was as bad a half of basketball someone of his caliber can play. Especially coming off the two late FT's against Colorado.

That might be some consolation if there wasn't going to be a rebuild within the rebuild next season.

Shaka is going to have some tough decisions to make about additions to the roster if he wants to make the NCAA tournament next year, much less have a realistic shot at the Sweet 16. It isn't going to happen with only the returning players and the incoming freshmen while the competition is beefing up from the transfer portal.

yea...what makes this so disappointing.....best team we will have in a while

Its our best regular season team in how long and we can't beat the 55th ranked kenpom team in the s16. It's a failure.

Yep. They failed tonight. They lost to Butler at home. They failed that night too. They had some crappy games. They don't have guards that can power for a shot. But MU hadn't won an NCAA game in 9 years before last year. They got to the Sweet 16 for the first time since Buzz. The disappointment shows how far they've come in so short a time.

Ashamed? Seriously? It was a great ride the past two years that ended poorly. But these guys should keep their heads up. MU basketball is back.

A couple days ago there was some debate on here as to what a "choke" is vs. simply playing a bad game.  Well, if this game wasn't a choke, I don't know what is.

Agree,  It's a rebuilding year.

The Sultan

Yeah I am neither ashamed nor embarrassed. These guys have brought me a lot of joy and represented my alma mater with class.

If you looked up "no-show" in the dictionary, that first half by him would be a perfect entry. Feel bad for him but at least he has some defensive bright spots later.

TrojanWarrior

We struggled beating Western Kentucky, We squeaked by Colorado. We are a Sweet 16 team. Elite 8 against Houston or Duke would have been the Little Big Horn.

Great season. Some great highlights. Tough way to end, but it is about right.

Oso and Jop got us here, so the criticisms are unfair.

Yea, something off with Joplin.  Missing three straight free throws.

This game was to our season like you are to scoop. Embarrassing , incredibly painful and difficult to stomach but doesn't ruin it.

Thanks to our boys for a great season, and career for Tyler and Oso.

It's a shame because in second half, much better on defense, but MU did not take opportunities.  There was a sequence of seven straight NCST possessions which they did not score.  MU made one basket, a layup by Kam.  Others were terrible turnovers, missed threes.  Had their chance right there.

4 for 31 from three was worse than Butler home game, where 5 for 31.
Joplin, Kolek and Mitchell went 1 for 16 and Kam 3 for 12.

Along with 9 missed free throws, a missed dunk, vaseline on Oso's hands and three balls thrown into the bleachers, the players know what just happened as a #2 seed and are probably just feeling completely depressed.

No Norman and Lowery again for two straight games, even Gold hardly played.  Interesting. Let's see what happens in next few weeks on who leaves besides Oso and Kolek and star building all over for next year.  Great season, but disappointing ending.

Three years ago, we fired our head coach. We would have been joyous to even think about an NCAA tournament.

We have grown to a Top 10 program. Our athletes make us and our university proud. We're headed toward what we were many years ago.

Yeah, I'd like to forget about tonight too. But I'm proud of the road we are on and while I don't have Phoenix tickets this year, I'll look forward to next year — and beyond!

Sorry I have expectations. You probably thought Wojo was a good coach

Afroman

The Sweet 16 is the ceiling for this program.
It pains me to say, but Marquette University is never winning another national title.
Have you seen what Duke has coming in next season and some of the other big boys? Good luck.
