And where did Theo John fall on that spectrum of difference?

One fanbase's rock is another's thug.

Before Theo went publicly political most folks here were honest about him as a player.

Afterwards, he was viewed in a much different light. He was suddenly a much better player whose game was hampered by refs who were out to get him.

Angry old hypocrite that complains that people inject politics injects politics for no particular reason other than being an angry old hypocrite.

I think the yank on Oso's arm is the perfect example of the difference between being physical and dirty.  Could have seriously hurt him on that play.

That illegal screen on Mitchell should have been reviewed. That rose to flagrant.  He was out to hurt him and nearly succeeded.

Shaka's been "publicly political" at times, too.

Spoke out against police violence, encouraged Black athletes to use their voices in the wake of the George Floyd murder, etc.

I've said before the one and only reason Shaka EVER leaves Marquette is that he doesn't believe the community sees eye to eye with what is right in his eyes, and right for humanity.

Hope I never see the day.

Or at the very least hope it's after a ship or two or in retirement

Oduro's hook and hold on Oso - a play on which Oso amazingly was called for the foul - would have been called a flagrant on Oduro had the refs bothered to review it. It's a very dangerous play, and it goes to intent to injure.

Ha! Lenny I probably skew more your way politically but you are reading way too much into this.

Kam on not being all conference:

Let's take a moment to honor the BEPOY that led his team to *checks notes* 7th place in an 11 team conference and likely a deep run in the NIT.! Quite the accomplishment...for Providence.

Great win for MU.

English and Holloway are great young coaches in this league.

Holloway is a year older than Shaka.

Someone asked how Theo (considered thuggish by other fan bases) was perceived by Marquette fans. I gave an honest answer. Sorry you didn't like it. You're the one who sounds (very) angry, not me. I'm very happy. Happy in general and happy because MU won. So happy that I'll let your infantile insults go. Have a nice night, Smitty!

There's no conference tourney that can touch the BET.  Playing at The Garden before a full house...tomorrow will be like a road game but The Garden is OUR House, not UConn's.

Tonight was very much a de facto road game.  Gus had to check himself when he almost said "listen to this Providence crowd".  Caught himself and said "Providence fanbase".

100% --that was far worse than the hook and hold they focused on a few years ago since he added a tug on Oso's arm. Very dirty. Given Oso's shoulder issue this year, we are extremely lucky that wasn't worse.

Yet not a Q1 road win.  A Q2 "neutral" win.

Who cares about the Q2 anymore?

This team locked a 2 seed, might be in play for the top 2 if that matters. 1 probably not in play but crazier things have happened with a fun tomorrow.

Anyway, let's just win a B2b. Why not? This team is capable, and able.

Raise that ship

Loved his layup in traffic late.  His defense was stellar as always.  Just keep developing Chase!!

I loved that he looked to be a capable playmaker as well. Whether it be his crossover and blow by that dropped his defender, or the pumpfake, drive, and long to Oso for a slam...the more playmakers the better.
VIOLENCE!

8.  Carter worthy of every accolade.

Can't disagree more. I can think of at least 10 BEAST better then him...hell the entire starting five of UCONN plus first man off the bench are better. Oso, Kam, and Tyler all better. At least 3 players on Creighton . Absolutely no way he is BE POY.

Nonsense.

What about early in the game his extending his knee out to trip Ross who had to leave the game?
