Looking ahead, what are the odds/percentages that Tyler and Oso return next season?

I believe Oso already has stated that this will be his last college season. Kolek hasn't, but I'd agree with the others that it's doubtful he returns.

I'll go with 0.0000001% for Oso (hey, anyone can change one's mind) and <5% for Kolek.

Tyler did an interview with Fanta where he alluded to not coming back and how traveling now he's trying to take each stadium in and at the beginning of the year he didn't really think about it because he had the option. So I'd wager very small chance Tyler comes back unless he's told he's not making any money in the nba and he desperately wants a masters degree.

We don't really ever seem to catch a break when it comes to good players returning for another year. The badgers, on the other hand, have two 4th year "juniors" averaging double figures who will 100% be back.

Going to enjoy the rest of this season with Kolek and Oso and then cheer them on in the NBA next year.

Those UW guys will be back because they won't be in the NBA.

The UW-Mad teams are older than a lot of NBA teams.

Oso less than 1%. He's already said he's gone and i can't imagine him changing his mind.

Tyler less than 50%. I think it's likely he'll get drafted in the second round and it being a weak draft class probably means he goes.  But i could see him deciding to stay if he gets feedback that he is only borderline

Do you think Oso is a 1st round pick?

I do Muggsy.  Even though you meant that question for the knower.

Oso might be a lottery pick by the time the Draft comes around.

BLWarrior91

Oso will be in the NBA next year.

There's a better chance that Kolek returns unless he knows he'll get drafted.

I don't like this as an MU fan, but if TK is back in college for another year it will be because he is trying to maximize his earnings potential.  I doubt that means returning to our team.

Just a guess, but that's probably how I would think about it if I were him.

He may take his chances regardless of whether or not he "knows he'll get drafted." He's 23, and while we hear of many NBA players with long careers, I think most have much shorter ones. As much as I would love to see him back, it is probably in his best interests to move on and hope for the best as a pro, wherever that may be

Yeah I think he will be at the end of an NBA bench, but regardless its not like an additional year of College will improve him as a prospect.

By what? Going to Duke, Kansas or Kentucky? Hmmm.

This seems like an unusually weak nba draft.  I'm just wondering if Oso can develop a face up J?  I think his overall skill-set should be enough to find a spot.

It's called the '23/'24 season.

A jumper would certainly help.  It won't be developed at MU.  I used to think it was a necessity.   Now I think that everything else he does will be enough.

Oso gone.

Kolek...not so sure. He's not a guarantee in the NBA, though I think he has a spot. He said he wants to stay here as long as he can because of the belief Shaka has in him...with Sean hurt and 1 scholarship open...I think Shaka has it set up that way for a reason. Could go either way.

Not that it comes as any surprise, but when did Oso announce this was his last year?

Here is a tweet from Ben Steele on 10/7/23. Follow up tweet says that he thinks he is in a one year grad program. Not sure if anyone has anything more definitive.

Oso Ighodaro said he got NBA feedback from the Marquette coaches   but decided not to enter the draft process because of "unfinished business."

As for his extra season of eligibility, he doesn't anticipate using it but obviously nothing needs to be decided in October. #mubb

Oso will be gone.  If he continues to play in manner he did last night, he is definitely a first round pick.

Kolek probably gone.  Some team take a chance in second round, then he does the G-League assignment.  Can never tell how he develops.  Doesn't seem like an overseas guy.  More like an assistant coach gig in future.  But probably makes more with NIL, then G-League.

Kam. Question mark.  Now that his buddies are leaving, does he go/transfer or does he become the bigman on campus?
If he enters combine/draft, does some team take a chance as free agent, or gets advice at combine.

Gold.  No way drafted or signed as free agent and he can't play center.  He would have two fouls in first five minutes.  That role to Amadou or Hamilton.  Gold's role will remain the same, Ross/Joplin/Mitchell forwards, hope he enjoys it.

Sean Jones. ACL for athlete is 10-12 months recovery and won't be rushed back. He lost for next year?

Three freshmen. It always happens, one usually goes, who it is will be determined.

The roster will be extremely changed at end of year and very young, unless Shaka goes against his transfer portal philosophy.  Looking forward to the big swingmen freshmen for next year, hope they get some time.  Will be very interesting.
