Ah yes. NCAA Tournament bracket predictions. Definitely the greatest way to prove who knows ball! lol.

Because everyone who knows ball had FAU and SDSU in the Final Four last year.

Go back to proclaiming how great John Dawson was for picking splinters out of his a$$ on a GLeague roster stacked with future NBA All Stars.

🤡🍑
Shocker.  When Bias gets asked to make any kind of prediction, he simply is too insecure to do so.  But you sure were right on target to suggest Zaide Lowery wouldn't be able to compete at the Big East level!!

Quote from: withoutbias on December 02, 2023, 03:46:22 PM
Oh god. This again?

Because Zaide showed athleticism against Southern (I repeat, against SOUTHERN for God's sake) he should be eating into a starter's minutes?

Maybe, you know, these guys who are paid millions to make these decisions and see the guys hours every day have a better idea than you based off of a(n extremely) low major.

Quote from: withoutbias on December 02, 2023, 03:59:55 PM
lol. Yes. Zaide's 7 rebounds against SOUTHERN (not Southern Cal...SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY) proves he can CONSISTENTLY compete at "this level." But Jop, the Sixth Man of the BE conference last year, cannot compete at this level.

Shaka has to go. Ners for player coach. He dunks on people, so he has the requisite athleticism to compete unlike David Joplin.

Quote from: withoutbias on December 07, 2023, 10:05:36 AM
Only disappointing thing about last night was Zaide's 1 rebound in 10 minutes.  I was told he had the elite athleticism that Jop lacks that is a requisite to compete at this level of basketball.  Alas, maybe playing against Southern makes you look like a better rebounder than when you're playing the big boys.

(He did do a good job defensively on Absmas.  He looked in over his head offensively.)

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

1.  Tale of 2 halves:  0-11 3FG to 6-9 3FG.

2.  Shaka and Pitino both coached very well.  A constant chess match of coaching adjustments.

3.  Played our best ball of the season to build the lead and our worst to almost give it away.

4.  Won anyway.

5.  Gold's defense I'm the first half was fantastic.  Very active hands and feet.  2 steals.

6. But his shot is very flat right now.  Low release point.  Is he rushing?  When Gold shoots with a higher release point, he tends to make a lot more.

7.  Zaide and Lowery continue to grow.  Nice D, great dunk, and a made 3.

8.  Stevie was great.  His usual strong defense and some much needed offense.  Great job driving and finishing.

9.  Jolp and Cam [sic] weren't great but had their moments.

10.  Kolek and Oso pick and roll is so special.  Both execute it at an NBA level.  That's a big part of their NBA appeal.

11.  Turnovers, mental mistakes, and poor FT shooting nearly cost us.  But I repeat, won anyway.

12.  Take every win and run!!!

You are a true savant. Cannot believe MU has not hired you as a recruiting coordinator yet. Or NBA teams as a scout.

Please allow me to bow to you. Or if you could just dunk and hang on the rim for a bit, I could kiss your feet that way.

I watched the game on delay. Many thoughts, but two really stood out. First, Joel Soriano is one of the most productive bad basketball players I've ever seen. Not sure anyone else puts up bigger numbers while simultaneously making his team worse. I really thought Pitino would harness his positive attributes and turn him into a good player, but I was wrong.

Zaide should've played more down the stretch. Kam disappeared and Zaide was getting it done on both ends. I think he would've ended their run sooner had he come in when it was cut to 7.

per your #7: Stevie has stepped up. I appreciate Zaide stepping up too, but do believe Stevie seeing the ball go through the hoop is going to pay big dividends this season. Just the threat of him scoring can open things up.

The offense looked the way I expect in the second half. Those made 3s should also pay dividends. Slowly but surely getting the feel back.

As you said, take a road win and run! Happy we have a home game on Wednesday!

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I don't know brew, in this type of situations I would go with experience, would be asking a lot of a frosh, but I totally get where you're at. But in Shaka I trust!

I get that, and it worked, but Zaide was really clicking on both ends. If it was Chase, I think it would be a no-brainer decision. For better or worse, Zaide is in the Chase role.

Me too.  He'd probably rate himself a 1 on the turd scale, when in reality he's a 10.

It was great to see MU come out in the 2H with that kind of precision.  We lost focus for sure but a W is a W.

Announcers kept talking about SJU hanging around/leading with Soriano sitting so much

I made a comment during the second half that I think him on the bench was a negative to us. That Ejiofor or whatever guy is way more active and athletic.

Correct but again, Chase has experience and Zaide doesn't, Shaka is a good coach and won't throw Zaide into the fire like that.

Beating an unranked team by a single point is a "great" win?
StJ is 36 in Net and 39 in Kenpom and a tournament team. So, yes, great road win. You should do some reading.

muwarrior69

Well I was right. Going to the game the day after my 77th birthday was a good omen. I am now 6-0 at MSG when we play. That is not saying much as it was 53 years ago that I saw them beat Fordham and then 4 in a row during the 1970 NIT run.

A couple of observations: There are a ton of Marquette fans that don't follow Scoop or so I surmise. There were about 20 or so in my section, in the lower bowl when we tied the game at 49 or so a whole corner section in the lower bowl just exploded with cheers. We had a good following at the game.

Give Ty the benefit of the doubt. The crowd noise was just about unbearable at the end of the game when making those FTs. Watching the game on TV and being there gives you a different perspective of what the player is actually going through.

First of all, I gave you the assignment of getting Marquette to 77 points in celebration of your BD. You failed. Good thing we won anyway.

Kolek was gassed as evidenced by his being red-faced and gasping near the end, pacing at the FT line to settle down, and no doubt rattled by SJs comeback. Let's lighten up, scoopers.

My wife and I have been to MSG a number of times for BET. One time we had a SJ fan in the row in front of us during Marquette's 30-something blowout of SJ. She was not a very large woman, but what a pair of lungs! She very loudly cheered SJ on non-stop! If you heard only her and did not see the game or score, you would have thought it was Marquette who was getting blown out.

Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

He's in Chase's role but that role (and its minutes) have been lessened because of Zaide's inexperience. Once Zaide proves to Shaka that he deserves Chase like minutes he'll get them. I'm very high on him, he's well on his way.

1.  I don't know ball but I do learn ball by reading the comments made here on MUSCOOP.  I find it fascinating.
2.  I think Stevie was the guy today.   Turned good defense into unexpected offense.  Nice to see someone outside the Big 3 starters come up big.
3.  My youngest daughter  and last child is now a senior and I gotta find out a way to fit in a game with her in the next two months.  Did you ever think your life would be so complicated when you were at MU and 21 years old?  Pressure time geezer man.
4.  My other goal is to buy Tower912 a beer some day!
