Geez, didn't know there were any openings this late.

That really sucks for GB.  Wicks looks like he can coach and he bolts after one year.   I hope they can find a Lundy type to replace him.

But also better positioning if you want to make a big leap.  If you have decent success at a low major, save for a S16 run or the like, you can maybe get a look at a good mid major job.  But if you parlay that success into a top P5 assistant gig, then suddenly you can be getting legit looks.

Austin Claunch was the HC at Nicholls State, did pretty well, was a popular name but was getting really low level looks.  His predecessor there did well and moved up to South Alabama, hardly a sparkling gig.  So Claunch left Nicholls, did a year under Oats at Bama, and just got the UTSA job in the AAC
