CT Moose Arguably Murdered
« on: June 11, 2023, 07:07:24 PM »
I'm not saying they aren't a danger if they're roaming by the the Bradley Airport but the details are very sketchy as to why they did not try to get him/her to safety.  DEEP and other officials refused to give any pertinent information but we know it didn't even reach the fence by the runways.  At worst we should get some plausible information besides "Moose can be dangerous".

I kinda think any government agency that goes by DEEP probably needs an image rehab...this doesn't help.

Moose fans and the general public as well. Moose have been over culled across North America.

I was recently on a trip to Alaska. They had Moose by the airport there. However , they were fenced in.

Each moose encounter is different, we need more details.

Menard's served me an ad deal for a moose hunting blind and trail cam this AM.  I wonder if these were programmatically connected to this news?

I have been fortunate enough to go to Cape Breton, NS for a number of years.  There is a sizeable moose population up there and the government decided the herds should be culled, there are moose hunts.  The results have not turned out to benefit anyone.  I encountered a few a had zero problems whatsoever.  Keep your distance and respect them.

It's probably because your phone picked moose out of your history. So Muggsy starting this thread may have directly contributed to helping you hunt moose. Definitely a touch of irony.

Long ago on WLS-AM 89/Chicago, Animal Stories, featuring Uncle Lar and Lil Snot Nosed Tommy had a similar story.

As Uncle Lar told it, a errant canine wandered on to an airport just as a 350,000 pound 747 was landing. Lil Tommy, as always, concerned about animal welfare, asked Uncle Lar: "If the dog going to be all right Uncle Lar?"

Uncle Lar shot back at Lil Tommy: "What the hell do you think is going to happen Lil Tommy? A 350,000 pound 747 meets a 20 pound dog?"

Larry Lujack was the greatest!

Again a 200,000 pound 737-700 meets a Moose. What the hell do you think is going to happen?

Brother dgies,

From the accounts I've read the airport is fenced and the moose wasn't even close to entering airport grounds.  They are also not exactly diminutive creatures.  Open your fking eyes if you are a driver and stumble across one.

Never seen one in the Sahara for instance.

I had a killer acid trip with a moose and a stripper at the Sahara in Vegas once.

Yep, but I still don’t know how they get ‘em in the blender with the chocolate.

Still very delicious, and very dangerous animals when they get to close to habited and highly trafficked areas.

So the local butcher sells moose hearts in Canada?
Would these have to be farm raised?

They're endangered in certain areas.

Moose are not being culled or purposefully harmed in anywhere they are "endangered", namely the upper Midwest (though endangered is purely geographic cause global moose populations are entirely healthy and robust).  This is much ado about nothing.  Many more species and populations to actually worry about in regards to their existence and threats.
