Our homeowners and flood insurance is running at about $10,000 premium with a 2 percent wind deductible

I bought an air quality monitor back in January for $20 on Amazon .. used it for a week but got bored with it .. our air was good.

Fired it up last night with our windows open .. PM2.5 was 300, PM10 was 450.  OUCH.  Danger, Will Robinson.

Closed the house up, turned on the furnace fan plus an additional air purifier and this morning it was 60/90.

Fun gadget.

I'm confident that the taverns I frequented before the indoor smoking ban was implemented were smokier than this current bout of haze.

The Marquette crime report guy says what?
"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

Ah, yes.  Get outside and fill your lungs with dirty air.  Get kids back in the coal mines, too.

Is this one of the posts about listening to scoop posters or listening to experts?

I'll hang up and listen

Metaphorical hat tip for some quality trolling.   Because nobody is that dumb.

There is no doubt that certain bars back in the day were worse than what we are experiencing with the forest fires. The old Knotty Pine was in the basement and prime example of back in the day. Sue the bartender led by example and was never without a lit cig. Those were the days!!

Sadly, the dentists have gone to great lengths to prove you wrong.

I am still landing on trolling in this case.

The Knotty Pine Tap:  a basement with 60 layers of smoke on the gnarly pine wood walls, 60-cent tap beers, plenty of regulars, and a stash of candy and peanuts behind the bar.  I can't walk into the Outpost without imagining a whiff of spilt beer and stale cigarettes.

Back in the day ,when they allowed cigarette smoking , the galley area on the American Airlines evening flights from JFK to LAX became a smoke filled night club of sorts. Would happen after the meal service was completed.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

To combine this with another recently bumped thread. Drove my daughter to daycare this morning. There's a tennis court on the property (daycare share space with a school) and there are about a dozen or so greybeards running around huffing and puffing playing pickleball in the middle of the air quality alert. Hoping they all make it home okay.

Perfect description of one of my all time favorite places. I had the honor of serving the last round of drinks in their lengthy history. Not sure if you knew this, but my Uncle owned the bar prior to the Butterfield family.

Agreed.  But the pig emojis that inspire it also lack creativity.

I like the ziggy piggy reference as it takes me back to the halcyon days of the late 80s when, in a cheesy movie, our forefathers told us to be excellent to each other and to party on, dude.

I think the pig emojis is some of Ziggy's best work and it always puts a smile on my face.
