When he went to New York, he became their jackass. We didn't care anymore.

When Tom Brady went to Tampa, I could not believe the number of Patriots fans in Florida who were suddenly Tampa Bay fans. It was incredible.

Green Bay fans would never do that.

Green Bay fans wouldn't do that because Rodgers won a single Super Bowl, had an all time great QB before Rodgers, seem to have another very good QB after Rodgers, and Brady didn't burn bridges on his way out of town.

If the Rodgers had won 6 Super Bowls in Green Bay, I think Packers fans would happily root for his success in NY.

Favre's "aw shucks" personality, and his go-for-broke nature meant that he was always going to be more popular than Rodgers. Also it helped that he was one of the key parts of the franchise's renaissance.  Of course the Mississippi stuff has put a wet blanket on a lot of that.

Rodgers was always more reserved and more prickly. The "immunized" nonsense just reinforced a lot of the uneasy feelings that people already had about him. He is complicated figure - he has done a lot of stuff to help people that he wanted no credit for. But at the same time he has thrown long-time friends under the bus for the slightest of slights.

I was a bit too young to truly tap into it at the time, but Favre feels like he also gave the vibe (and given his partying predilections, likely the evidence) that you could find yourself throwing back beers with him at a bar in GB.  I don't think Rodgers ever gave that vibe, even with his smirking with a beer at a Bucks game.

Obviously everyone is beloved when they are winning, but I feel like Favre had more of a baseline likability at the time.

Oh no. There were many Packer fans who had #4 Jets and Vikings jerseys. They would wear them to Packer games where the Jets and Vikings weren't playing either. This was pointed out by MANY beat writers at the time.

Yup.  Rodgers was getting booed that first training camp because he wasn't Brett Favre.  Those weren't Vikings fans driving over from MN to take in Packers training camp practices.
