The challenge to coaches is seeing that list, reviewing the transfer portal and ask how many of the guys in the portal are transferring for larger payments?

Big question -- sad answer is too many.

The one I was impressed by was $92,000 and a Vanderbilt education!

I wonder if you are really rich.   You can say "NIL" is a donation to the University.   There are a lot of creative accountants out there.

No. Universities don't provide NIL $ to student-athletes.

However, there are organizations out there that are non-profits to which donations are tax-deductible

Marquette's for example.

I believe 79 is referring to the NIL that benefits Marquette's athletes.

And Jay Bee is leaning hard into a bit.

Jay Bee

It's not really a bit... as the organization being referred to says, "we share no affiliation with Marquette University".

It's a "I want people to think I'm smarter than I really am and am more important than anyone here, so I'll tell them their wrong without correcting them so that people come begging to me to explain why the person was wrong and I can feel important on MUScoop.  But then also make an absolute fool of myself on the Superbar anytime I post there" bit.

FTs phugging matter.

Sorry, Be the difference. Which is tax deductible.

Contributions *might be tax deductible. The org would certainly not tell you that you can deduct. And, the org is not affiliated w/MU.

Oh, I have them straight. You used "Marquette's", which is possessive. And you claimed it as tax deductible.

Now you're trying to walk back your claim... "yes, I said it's a possession of Marquette's, but I never said there was an affiliation with Marquette."  Lol

It's all ready registered as a 501 3c in wisconsin. It's tax deductible status probably depends on other donations of the individual.
