He shot 39.3% from 3 in Big East play, which was highest on the team.

In the end, my wish is for the team to stay together as much as possible.   And for all of the returnees to progress and develop like last year.

For help to arrive from outside, there will first have to be multiple departures.  I would prefer continuity.
Exactly.

I'm not sure I'm shooting for the moon here, so to speak.  Anyway....I think MU could be an attractive destination for someone who wants a natty title run.

Not shooting for the moon?

My list is three things...

  • A big that can back up Oso, but also play with him and step out to shoot from range.
  • A change of pace point guard to give Tyler some rest.
  • A combo guard/wing that can get his own shot & defend at a high level.
So by my estimation, Ben Gold with 15 pounds of muscle, a healthy Sean Jones, and improvement or impact from Chase Ross & Tre Norman is everything we need.

WolfganghisKhan

Kolek improve his floater. Stevie not be a zero on offense. Omax not trip over his own feet. Joplin learn how to dribble.

Fix those and we'll be in the F4.

HutchwasClutch

Kam being much more consistent.

Oso being more assertive offensively, especially when matchup favors him.

OMax a vastly improved rebounder.  He needs to give us much more in that area.  Also shoot fewer threes.

Agree 100% with this.  I'd only add continued development of everyone and that's kind of a Captain Obvious comment.

Open shooter shoots the 3.
I don't expect anyone to pass up open 3s in this offense.

Love it! This beats Hell out of reading about Marquette's obituaries in the tourney.

I'd have to see more outta Gold. Right now, he's not that guy. You can see the lack of confidence and indecision in his face, hey?

Lack of confidence? No.
Indecisive? Yes.
I see Ben as trying to find what he should be doing at all times on the court. It hasn't come naturally yet.
He certainly has confidence shooting that open 3 and driving the lane to finish with either hand.

This is easily solved with the Ben Gold Decision Tree:
Open 3:  Shoot
Not open:  Drive and Dunk
Successful implementation of this decision tree will creat 12-15ppg for Mr. Gold next season.

As a project big, Ben far exceeded my expectations. I think he takes a nice jump next year.
