Ncaa matchups
« on: March 12, 2023, 06:04:17 AM »
I spend a lot of time in Austin, I would love to see a Texas Marquette match up, Texas am and buzz would be a blast. A rematch with Purdue, I think we win this time.

What teams would you want to see for Marquette fans in the NCAA?

I’m going to look more closely at this later this morning because the potential matchups will be affected by the placement of the highest seeds into the regions.

Assuming that Houston, Kansas, and Alabama are the top 3 seeds (in any order) that would probably put Kansas in Kansas City, Houston in Las Vegas, and Alabama in Louisville. The 4 seed (UCLA or Purdue) would be in New York. With UCLA’s loss last night, I’m guessing Purdue gets the other 1 seed.

I generally don’t focus much on potential matchups after the first weekend because so much can happen there. I look at the NCAA as a series of 4 team tournaments taken one at a time. But it can be fun to look ahead.

I think we have improved more than Purdue, since we played them. Also, the game would not be at Purdue.
Big centers scare me, because I still worry about Oso getting in foul trouble. However, Oso has mostly stayed out of foul trouble. You never know what kind of game the refs will call in the NCAA tournament. I prefer a crew that does not want to call every touch foul.

I am hoping we get in the section where Houston is the one, because Sasser got hurt yesterday. Probably still plays in NCAA tournament, but a groin injury should slow him down.
Teams I want to avoid are Duke and Alabama.

I am hoping for a late Friday game. It allows me to enjoy the whole first two days and also the next round, because we also will have a Sunday late game.

2nd round games are never pre determined for start time.
