Loved the fact that the crowd was proactive with the awful start. Instead of the place turning into a morgue the crowd rose up and seemed to draw a line and fired things up. Frustrating game many times, but the crowd stayed into it and brought positive energy. Great to see and be a part of.

Thanks for posting this. With CBSSN subduing the crowd noise, I could not tell whether or not the crowd had checked out.

Oso hits a shot, MU pulls within 19-8 and the place goes crazy.  The crowd was electric.

Val Ackerman, we apologize for the shipping delays but the #mubb you ordered in 2014 has arrived.  Enjoy your new toy.

There were. That was a total sellout.

Best weeknight crowd at Fiserv.

Ah you're right, misread that tweet.

I am a STH, and was at the game w /
one of my boys.  ( I usually make all but a couple games during a year )

It was a great crowd... helping the team along in the first half.... And the loudest I've heard FF after the tip in

It would be nice to have sellouts for our last two games - crap opponents, but both on Saturdays

I was talking to my friends and wife about this. It's nice to see our program start to become what we should have been from the get-go--a Big East top-half, top 3 stalwart. Honestly, the "new" Big East is a lot stronger than I could have hoped since its inception--just happy to be a contributing factor now.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I think it will be. Last night my wife proposed a "Marquette road trip week" with going up to MKE for the Depaul game now before we head to Indy for the Butler one (which are tix she got me for Christmas). We had already planned on heading up for the St John's game that week too. A few years ago, I don't think she'd even consider this an option.

My wife is just a Marquette fan (and college bball fan) solely because she married into this. And she's been a casual one at that (we got married during the early Wojo years) and really only cared because she enjoyed brackets. That said, she's bought in hard to this team and loves watching them play. Heck, the team has made her a big basketball fan overall-- lately I'm finding her watching non-Marquette CBB games when she's bored.

I love that your wife has bought into the program big time. My wife and I have a ton of MU memories and she is back in the fold as well. She tried hard to slow down my claims that Shaka was the savior from the day he was hired. Hell, my kids tried to slow me down and they are all on the bandwagon. Winning is fun, having an identity is fun and knowing it is just getting started is the best part for me.

One of the things I miss the most since moving away from Milwaukee (along with being close to family/friends and getting to play basketball with the same group of guys for over a decade each Monday and Wednesday) is attending Marquette games.  And the fact that the closest games to where I live now are week night games, combined with saving time off at work for wedding stuff, has made it not possible to make games.

If we're playing for a Big East title on March 4th, I might make the fiancé make the trip up to Milwaukee with me on one of her few weekends entirely off of work.

Gee, sans doing that, we'd never had clearly heard Gillen's annoying voice and nonsensical comments.

It was a hoot.  Now that I am retired and the little tyke featured as my avatar is driving and has a car, I hope it can become an annual thing.

'Pray' on youtube as opposed to 'Pray' in the arena are two entirely different animals.

Being told to be EGB's was irksome after the first time.

Chatted with Xavier fans at the arena and back at my motel.  Disappointed but gracious.  Tough team.

The energy in the building after the tip in was all anyone could ask.

They do that on purpose as no one would want to miss even one word of Pete's tremendous insight. ;D

My wife went from a casual "fan" who would watch maybe 15 minutes or so of a MU game to a full-fledged fan. She not only enjoys brackets, she becomes obsessed with them for the Big Dance. Her favorite player has been Stevie, beginning with last season.

All I can say is this is that last night was 100% what I wanted to see the program and fanbase look like for a long period of time. Last night is the type of game that makes casual fans into real fans and gives younger fans the memories that will bring them back for many more games. Marquette is a basketball school and I believe last night was just the beginning of what Shaka's MU Warriors will be over the next decade.

I told a couple of young fans that were jacked up after the game to remember this game. One, who was in early 20's, mentioned Al and I told him "forget Al, this is the Shaka era". It is time to build a program that all fans look forward to see what will happen next.

Well I'll never forget Al but know what you meant. The '77 schtick is something to commemorate but is getting quite rusty. Would be nice to see a different number on that Golden Eagle.

Stevie is my wife's favorite as well. We have six people in our family and probably six different favorite players. That is definition of a team.

I think DePaul will be really close. Sat Night game. A lot of students looking for tickets.
If STJ is an 11 am tip......might be tough.

i get what you are saying, but don't forget AL. Give 100% props to Shaka for the now, but AL started it all. (would be nice if AL made it back to the jersey rather than the waist band, imo)

There is chance I will ever forget Al. One of the biggest influences in my life is Al. That said, time to embrace the present. The ghost of Al has had a great run and he even Al would say too long of a run.

After MU I lived in Chicago for 4 years before moving back home to Detroit. When I first moved people always asked if I missed Chicago and I'd always reply "I miss being 80 miles from Milwaukee".

I still get to 3 or 4 games a year but that's not nearly enough

I have lived in Virginia since the 80's and, while I have no desire to move back to the Great Lakes area, I really envy those of you who are able to go to the home games. My wife and I have to settle for the annual GT/MU game in DC, but we will be heading to NYC soon for our 3rd BET.

I really disagree with the idea that watching on TV is almost as good as being there. To us, there is nothing like being there, and "being there" at a home game? It's been so many decades, but I still remember that feeling. I'm jealous!

Shaka team - there is nothing like being there....

Wojo team - there is nothing like being able to turn the TV off and immediately go do home improvement projects...

So, after the game, after sharing a drink with brewcity77, I went to bed and set my alarm for 545 CST.   I was on the road at 6:35 CST.   Hit the Chicago morning rush on the tollway, surfed it at a high rate of speed and made it home in just over 4 hours. Since I got home, there are 3 inches of snow on the ground and another 3-5 possible.
This is part of the calculus for going to MU games.  Winter in the upper Midwest.   Mock away, but nobody wants to drive in the crap out there right now.
