As a follow-up to the thread about boosting attendance, here is some data:

Shaka Era:

2023  14,196 (attendance to date; Fiserv games only)
2022  13,495

Wojo Era:

Average attendance:  13,960 (2021 season not included due to Covid restrictions)
Best year:  15,611 (2019)
Worst year:  12,323 (2018)

Buzz Era:

Average attendance:  15,484
Best year:  16,200 (2009)
Worst year:  15,033 (2013) - Interesting that his Elite 8 year was the lowest.  2014 season was actually higher.

Crean Era:

Average attendance:  13,582
Best year:  16,239 (2008)
Worst year:  9,971 (2000) - This was our worst average attendance in the modern era.  He built it up quickly after this.

Deane Era:

Average attendance:  12,245
Best year:  12,814 (1995) - Mike's first year.  Thanks KO.
Worst year:  11,508 (1998)

KO Era:

Average attendance:  13,438
Best year:  14,348 (1994) - KO's best team and final season
Worst year:  12,613 (1992)

Piano Bob Era:

Only season at the Bradley Center:  11,961.  Marquette still drew near sellouts at the MECCA his first two years.

We have drawn very well through good times and bad.  But these numbers show we have been able to average over 16,000 per game.  This team and staff is doing their part.  The building should be full, every night!

I think COVID and technological advancements have done more to kill sports attendance than just about anything.

Among other things.  Prices are a legit, big concern.  Parking at this point is pretty laughable during big events at Fiserv.  I have the luxury of private parking but just shake my head at prices during the playoffs

Prices are a legit concern. My staying away from games in January due to my doing Dry January probably saved me an excess of $500. Tickets are the best bargain of going to the game. We pay $30-40 for parking, pregame cocktails and even two beers at FF is an expense night out.

Now, I would take that expense, especially this season, over going to a great steakhouse but it is an expensive outing.

My wife does get pissed if I complain about the cost because she says we could do it for a third of the cost if we wanted to. She is correct, but I want to pregame and want to park as close to FF as possible when cold out.

All that said, IMO this team is worth every penny spent because of the entertainment value they provide.

Dickthedribbler

The fact that every home game is nationally televised also hurts attendance.

TV does not help, but there is nothing like being at a big game. I love big crowds and the action of being at the game. Very much looking forward to the X game.

BLWarrior91

SJU will be my first game at Fiserv.  Really looking forward to it.  Now that we are empty nesters, we can finally fly to MKE for a weekend.

Let's keep it rolling MU!

What a great one you picked!  If we win the BE, that's the one where we earn it.

Covid showed me that I can save a lot of money watching the games at home.

I do not miss the drive from Sheboygan, and I can watch games I was missing, because I was driving to the game.
I also do not miss the guy sitting next to me who always wanted to hive five me every time Markus made a three.

tower912

Did he yell 'You suck' every time Markus missed?

Thank You for taking the time to compile these statistics. They are very interesting .

Thanks Herman Cain.

I went down the rabbit hole at lunch today looking at numbers from the NCAA records.  We were really drawing well during the Buzz era.  With the program growth under Shaka, we can exceed those numbers and sustain it.
