The line and OU against DePaul.

These have been fruitful of late so I figured let's get some thoughts.

From my end I've got nothing really.

MU is 2-3 at Wintrust and I've been to like 3-4 Marquette road losses versus DePaul in the last decade (one at Rosemont) so I'm jaded, can't think clearly.

I'm hopefully certain we've got this, but have no feel on how it'll go down.

Thoughts?

-9.5 feels like a lot. I could see us covering, but that's right around where I'd put the line so I can't really endorse either side by much. As far as the points, both teams play fast on offense and slow you down on defense, both protect the ball well. I would slightly lean under, but again tough to say.

If there's anything I'd really like, it would be live betting Marquette on the second half spread, especially if the first half is at all tight. We're a better second half team and I could see us really coming out and laying down a marker to start the second.

I follow Brew's philosophy when it comes to betting MU games, I openly want them to be down around 6ish or more near the ten minute mark of the first half.

MU, outside of obviously me being a fan, has been one of the best teams to live bet on and get better value on mid game as opposed to pregame.

Anything over -8 is hard for me to play in NCAAB. Marquette could control the game wire-to-wire and still not cover.

Heading to Vegas first thing in the am. Will not be betting MU -9.5.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

My worry about the over is DePaul is a bad offensive team. They've only been over a 152.5 total once in January and they have been playing at a slower pace of late month. They were at 72.1 possessions in their first 15 games, just 68.2 in their last 6. It's a small sample size, but really leads me toward an 80-65 type result for Marquette.

DId anyone watch the DePaul win over X?  What do we need to eliminate?  Ty.

Souley Boum was atrocious shooting the ball. 1/12 from the field and just 4 points from the guy who's probably now favorite for Big East Player of the Year. Xavier just didn't make their threes. Went 4/20 overall from deep. They beat DePaul on the glass on both ends, won the turnover rate battle, and outscored them from the line, but X couldn't overcome their cold shooting.

Keep the ball moving, find the hot hand, I think we win going away. This feels like an O-Max game. Not sure DePaul has anyone on the wing with the size, strength, and speed to stick with him.

So essentially if they'd do what I have suggested every game there shouldn't be any anxiety?  :)

Hammer MU -9.5. Home game. We'll be up 6-10 points the entire game and DePaul will foul at the end to chase the game against a "rival." Free throws will matter here folks.

Make shots.  Not only was Boum bad, Xavier missed double digit point blank shots.

Sounds similar to how we lost to X.

Even ESPN considers this a home game for Marquette. ;D

I really hope we smother them early pbiflyer.  I don't see any issues assuming we play our game and share the ball.

I think MU covers and the game goes under. That said, I would not play the game or the under unless willing to sweat it out. I think MU will cover a nice portion of the game, but you never know in the last few minutes on who will be on the court or silly fouls. MU is 10+ better team than DePaul regardless of the home team.

MU82

Agree with those who say that's a lot of points, and that we could control the whole game (and dominate lots of it) and still not end up covering. I think I'd be nervous the whole game with a line like that.

Dr. V: Not that it's necessary, but it wouldn't hurt to fix the subject line to show -9.5 (instead of -9,5), as it was a little confusing at first. Also, what happened in past MU-DePaul games matters 0.00% as to what will happen today.

I'm of European decent, so using the commas instead of the decimal point has become a habit.
Changed it because this isn't a European thread, this is America!

I know the past won't matter, but I'd be willing to bet that Shaka uses last years putrid trip to Wintrust as motivation today.

That game was horrendous, it was pure pain.
I specifically remember sitting in those seats thinking to myself "I don't know where the magic has gone, and I don't think this team can get it back."
Up to that point I was expecting Marquette to figure it out and finish strong.

That was then, this is now.

I 100% believe last year's swoon is going to be a catalyst to a strong finish to the season. Starting with the post game presser after UNC last year, when Shaka had two returning guys at the presser vs. Lewis and Morsell, it stood out that they were already looking ahead.

Last year they likely were not good enough for a run, but the swoon take away any chance of it happening. This year's team is far better equipped to finish off the regular season and go from there.

Great...can you explain how to bet soccer...because half the time I'm provided with soccer picks I can't figure out wtf they mean.
