Buddies and I will be in for the UConn game and are staying in the Brady St area. Would love suggestions for a Friday fish fry, and also for a couple of fun bars to hang at. We'd rather leave the car parked at our Airbnb and just walk to everything.

Thanks!

Just go to points east, order your body weight in wings. Drink beer while you wait an hour for them. Thank me when you take your first bite

Fish Fry at Lakefront Brewery is a bunch of fun. If you're willing to venture from the fish fry idea, the burger at St. Bibiana on Brady is legit.

The Brady bar scene is a little weird right now. I used to really like Nomad but the vibe is different. Roman Coin (cash only) is a great Milwaukee dive. Wolski's is right there. Jo Cat's if you want to see Sprewell.

Does Club Brady still do $10 all you drink on Thursday's? That'd be a hell of a way to kickoff the weekend
Bring back FFP!!!

Thanks for responses so far.

We just had wings so we won't be getting them again ...

I've heard good things about Lakefront's fish fry so we'll put that on list of possibilities ...

Thanks for the dive-bar rec, MUfan, that is our speed ...

We're not getting in till Friday so that Thursday special won't work for us.

These aren't just wings they're a piece of heaven that's come down to bless us.

My sons took my wife and I to Points East for the first time maybe 12 years ago. We stood for at least an hour waiting for a table and my bride kept telling us she didn't get it - waiting this long for wings. She has since become a believer.

We were at Nomad last night and closed Wolskis. But yeah, Brady did not seem like Brady.
Headed to Lakefront for fish fry and umpah band.

Weird in what way?  Cause, not that I was a Brady regular or diehard, but I felt like it was pretty consistent from when I turned 21 and went during summers back from school in the mid 2000s to when I was last out on a Saturday night there 2ish years ago.

Used to skew a bit older, bars were more a little more chill. Since the college haunts on North closed, a lot of that has been pushed down to Brady. And they have had to deal with some of the same nonsense that the Water St. bar district has.

There are still places I'll go to, but it has definitely changed from the neighborhood I lived in for 10 years.

Used to go to high hat the garage  jocats and nomad with a fake and/or legal 15ish years ago. I was not the only one from my class. Just saying...

Ended up going to Von Trier for fish fry - fish and fries were quite good, and they had a huge selection of German and Belgian beers on draft. (Tip for anyone who might go there: Skip the clam chowder - very bland.)

Ended up at Wolski's for a couple hours - the first time in there for me in decades. Vibe seemed just fine, lots of people visiting with each other, playing darts, etc. There were no shenanigans, at least not before we left around midnight. Having driven 6+ hours to get to Milwaukee yesterday, we couldn't make it anywhere near closing time.

Thanks for all suggestions, everybody.

Looking forward to the game. We Are Marquette!

Von Trier, haven't been there in years but an awesome place and great beer selection!

No I just think if it got older it happened a lot more recently than you're remembering or looking through rose colored glasses. Jocats was a huge underage bar on par with obradys judges and McCarthys so it's hardly "some people"

I lived in the neighborhood until 2019. There were always spots like Jo Cat's and the Garage that tended to be younger, but a good chunk of the college aged crowd would be near North at Judge's, Vitucci's, Eastsider. When those spots closed, more of that traffic came down towards Brady. Nomad completely changed their vibe since then.

So yes, there has always been a young element, but it used to be balanced out a bit more between people in their late 20s/early 30s and the older residents who lived there forever.

Went to Points East Pub before the game. Real good wings, among the better ones I've had. Just a few days earlier, I had the Wet & Dirty Wings at District Tap in Indy, and I think those are the best I've had in many, many years. But Points East were damn good. Thanks for the recommendation.

We went to Y Not II Tavern after the game and it was a young crowd that was having a good time.

Both places had lots of different beers at prices substantially lower than I'm  used to paying in Seattle (and in Charlotte before that). So that was nice.

It was a great trip ... except for the effen game!!

Glad you enjoyed them, I'll have to check out those wet and dirty wings next time I'm down there!

Not a wing fan (at all), but I missed you by about a week at District Tap.  Great beer selection.  Had some macaroon bourbon county on tap when I was there.
