Are Copp's and Solly's still popular?  And Leon's?

MU82

We go to Leon's every single time we go to Milwaukee. And sometimes we go there when visiting our son in Deerfield - it's only an hour away.

Kopp's has always had trash custard. Very good burgers for a faster food joint though.

Leon's custard is elite. Solly's butter is elite. As are their shakes/malts.

Leon's basic flavors are better than Kopp's. It's vanilla is more vanilla (in a good way), it's chocolate is more chocolatey, it's raspberry is more raspberrier. But with such limited flavors it puts a cap on how great its best can be. It's a high floor, low ceiling custard.

Kopp's has some trash flavors. And it's base vanilla, chocolate, etc are not as good as Leon's. But some of their flavors are perfection. Pancakes and Maple Syrup? Wedding Cake? Cream City Champs? All amazing flavors, better than anything Leon's offers. It's a low floor, high ceiling custard.

If you're going on a random day and don't know what Kopp's flavors are, go to Leon's every time. If you can wait to pick a day where Kopp's has one of it's elite flavors, definitely picking Kopp's.

You're spot on with the burgers at both Kopp's and Solly's.

Leon's Butter Pecan is elite.

Well said.  When my NY born wife transplanted to Wisconsin, the Kopps flavor calendar became an integral part of her monthly schedule.  KRK burgers and a top tier flavor of the day is an elite combination.

If you want something less "vanilla" (as in, plan, not the flavor) for your custard, go to Murf's over Kopps 100 out of 100 times.  Then Oscar's (custard, not Pub) before Kopp's.

But I'd take Leon's butter pecan, raspberry, and strawberry over any flavor Kopp's puts out there personally.

Leon's butter pecan is the single greatest confection in the world.

Not all that long ago, it was in their rotating list of flavors. They'd have vanilla, chocolate and a flavor - butter pecan, raspberry, walnut, mint, strawberry, etc.

But the butter pecan became so popular that they decided to offer it every day.

Sometimes, when we go to Leon's, they'll have a flavor I really like, such as those you named. But it's simply impossible for me to get anything other than butter pecan!

Visually, what does it remind you of?

It's hard to beat Butter Pecan.

Speaking of impossible....do any Scoopers buy Talenti Gelato?  A few months ago, after a tremendous dinner, I broke out a pistachio and butter pecan gelato for my distinguished guests.  I'm not much of a dessert chef.  Anyway, to my extreme ire, the jars were literally impossible to open.  Needless to say, we weren't happy.  The hot water trick, for about 15 seconds, eventually loosened the jars enough to twist.  Nevertheless, this still pissed me off and I pondered a few options for Talenti management.  :)  I came to find out that apparently this has been an ongoing saga with Talenti since their inception.

So buy one of those  jar opening devices on Amazon! And don't get pissed off at Talenti just because you have tiny hands and cannot grip the lid like normal sized people can.

It won't work on Talenti jars.  Trust me it's not possible to make them budge.  My hand strength is also elite btw.

A Solly's burger is a greasy sloppy mess.  Absolute trash.
When we stop talking, really bad stuff happens.

I have opened them many times with my elite, full sized hands without a lid tool. Your tiny hands are the problem Muggsy. Maybe you should try using a can opener. Or maybe one of your "distinguished guests" could have opened it.

"It's not possible to make them budge." Sure. Talenti has been selling a product for many years that people cannot open. Got it!

No sh!t they're greasy and sloppy. They put like a pound of butter on them. It's why they're delicious.

No one could open them.  There's no way you were able to unless you got a loose batch.   The Talenti problem has been analyzed for many years.

Yep. I have been getting loose batches for many years that I could open, but I never analyzed them. Thanks for figuring it out, Muggsy.

Is elite Custard better than elite Gelato?  I have some doubts.
