Is she the new Chucky?  The preview looks hilarious.

I thought the previews looked awful but it's sitting at 93% on RT.

Ha!  Instant classic?  I thought her chasing down some poor kid like she was a cheetah was amusing in the trailer.

Shouldn't this be in the "What are you watching" thread?

I'm making a concerted effort not to upset MEGAN.

Rotten Tomatoes is a very poor indicator of a film's worth. However, I did see M3GAN and it's a pretty fun(ny) one. A bit of social satire in there too. I'd definitely see it if you like the horror/comedy combo genre.

Can M3GAN be stopped Babybluejeans?  I think they took part of this idea from Klara and the Sun.

It was sold and went into production 3 years before Klara and the Sun was written/published.  And produced by the same guy who produced Annabell in 2014.  So, nope.

Maybe Ishiguro took this guy's idea?  There defensively seem to be some similarities.

Sentient Doll is Evil is not exactly an original concept.

But this is a little different if you read Klara and the Sun.  The AI wasn't evil in the novel either.

Unfortunately, we're  going to continue to see a lot more horror and comic book movies in theaters. Studios love the horror genre because they are cheap to make and perform comparatively well at the box office. Comic book movies are expensive to make but perform very well, especially overseas.

Regrettably, those of us that like original stories are going to continue to be disappointed by studios' output. The options were few this year. Standouts included Everything Everywhere All at Once, the Fabelmans, the Menu, Vengeance, TAR, and White Noise (an adaptation but it's a literary novel so I'm fudging this one).

At any given time, there's usually only one good, original story in theaters (if that). Even the arthouse theaters—my personal preference—tend to show more documentaries these days. But, if you like the horror genre, you'll be pleased to know there will be many more to come.

Maybe there should be a "What are you not watching" thread.

We can just have the mods change the title of this one.
