The Lens

One note about CBS...as bad as their games are, their studio show is really good.  Rothstein and Parrish really grind on college hoops so you know you're getting very well researched, well informed show.  You may not always agree with those two but few others put as much time into CBB as they do.

Totally agree. And I don't hate their game coverage either. While they may be a bit biased, their announcers know the teams, the players (and their names), and the game. Fox has been hit or miss on the game announcers and their studio coverage is either taped or teleprompter bland, especially since Lavin left.

I think CBSSN has the lowest budget for game production.  FS1 feels a little better.  ESPN still is the top.  I like Rob Stone, he's a good traffic cop but he has very few people to toss it to.  They need an information guy.  Heck let Titus and Tate out of the podcast studio for just one night.

I haven't been a big Lappas fan but I thought he was just fine these last two games. I even chuckled today when he said Kam couldn't play in a church league because of the arc on his 3s.

One thing that was pretty bad, though, was them speculating repeatedly that Richmond was benched for poor play ... only to find out he actually had a head injury. Would have been nice if they apologized.

I've got to admit that the Catalon/Lappas duo is good despite the complaints about games being on CBSSN.  I'd take them over most of the others we've had this season.  I love Raft and his style but Lappas is a good one, too.

I've never had a problem with lappas. Hearing him twice this week made me realize how he gets on a topic and won't leave it.  Ie providence zone, Kolek ineffective.

But all told he's definitely better than the avg color announcer.

Lapppas isn't too bad - I was watching a game with Gillen last nite and he's the one that tends to get annoying and talking really fast.

If you're reading this and still up, listen to the announce crew on NM/Utah State.

Did they mention that Utah State at one time had a Legendary Coach?

Who was that guy?  Never complaining about Dickie again.

Yeah, I had to turn it off. That color guy's voice was grating. Thought I was listening to a NASCAR event.

Derek Clark was play by play, who legit seemed like he was trying to will Utah State to a big victory.

Color guy was Joe Cravens, I think he was head coach at Weber State a few years ago. Clark went obnoxiously out of his way to refer to Cravens as "COACH" (it sounded like all caps.

Craven's analysis was 1950's southern-esque. It was...interesting.

Heck the crew was in person, that is a win for most.
