That's insane. I went to the Wednesday practice round and Saturday matches at Whistling, and the prices were $75/225 if memory serves.

It's a cool event to be at... but there's no way in hell I'd pay $750 for it.

I am happy that I have attended two Ryder Cups in the past, but unless someone is taking me as a guest, I will be passing on future Ryder Cups.

Wasn't crowd size an issue last time they hosted a US Open? My guess is that they want to limit the size so this is the best way to do it.

A more effective way to do that would simply be to screen out ADA members.

The tour is full of evangelical Christians, so it makes a lot of sense.  They don't like being around poor people as a rule and the PGA of America needs to keep them happy.

I wonder if it's a strategy to keep Euro fans away. They're already spending a bunch on travel and now tickets are 3x more than the last time. Maybe, who knows

The real answer is simple:

PGA Tour doesn't get money from the Ryder Cup.  Euro Tour does but they're not fighting LIV in court.  At least I don't think they are

The Ryder Cup has announced ticket prices for next year's event at Bethpage Black in New York, and goodness gracious are they steep.

‌Current prices: $255.27 for each of the two practice days, $423.64 for the "Celebrity Matches" and Opening Ceremony, and $749.51 for each of the three match days.

From Yahoo Sports' Jay Busbee:

The irony of these high prices at Bethpage Black is that the course itself is one of the most notable public tracks in the U.S., a testament to the inclusive nature of golf.

Greens fees are reasonable — a New York resident could play the course about 10 times for the cost of one Ryder Cup ticket — and getting a tee time is dependent on whether you can operate a cellphone, not on whether your great-grandfather knew the elites of his day.

‌There's a subtler reason behind the high get-in costs beyond just simple profit motive, however. The Ryder Cup is the most nakedly partisan event in golf, with crowds that rival European soccer or college football for sheer vocal ferocity.

‌Coming into this next Ryder Cup, there was substantial concern on both sides of the U.S.-European divide about the anticipated behavior of New York-area fans. High prices could do a whole lot to deter the kind of fan likely to curse out Rory McIlroy.

‌The result could end up being an uncommonly tepid crowd, which is exactly what the Ryder Cup doesn't need. Home-field advantage isn't just palpable at Ryder Cups, it's virtually necessary; the home team has won eight of the last nine Ryder Cups.

‌There's a conversation to be had about evening the playing field at Ryder Cups, but is pricing out a chunk of the gallery the right move? We'll find out a year from now.

Someone did an analysis and figured out that they could maximize Corporate Entertainment dollars this way.

I attended the  Formula 1 US Grand Prix in Austin as a corporate guest . The Saudi footprint was all over this event, From the very large presence of Saudi Oil Company Aramco to the public address announcer recognizing MBS before the National Anthem and University of Texas Longhorn Band . None of that seemed to matter to the fans as well over 400,000 showed up over the 3 days. In speaking to folks running one of the most celebrated racing teams ,it was estimated that if Saudis wanted to buy the entirety of Formula 1 price would be 20 Billion.

So my guess is LIV is an easily affordable sports circuit for Saudis to continue sponsoring. My guess is we see a couple more well known players sign on . Jon Rahm is recruiting 6-7 guys in LIV off season.  The Scottie Rory versus Brooks Bryson match will fuel that fire .
