RCD is phenomenal.  I'm partial to Cabot Cliffs, because I played there the week they opened, but that's a great choice Lenny as your favorite.  As far a Pasa or CP being better than Pebble?  Many people I know would agree with you.

Pebble is great but has become such a tourist spot, the rounds are long and familiar from so much exposure.  Still, it's an amazing property.  Would love to see an attempt at some reclamation of original design there.  Much harder to do because of nature and lower land.

If Cypress got as much TV coverage as Pebble, it'd probably get much more love but golf people deep in the weeds know what a masterpiece that is.  Of the 3, I think it's easily the best

I still haven't played Cypress but I think that's fair.

Play well, Muggsy!!

Anyone see that a 25y Golf Galaxy employee qualified for Rocket Mortgage this week? He was in a playoff and downed three beers before the playoff. Great story and hope the kid makes some money.

Move forward.  Or play them like par 5's and see if you can make birdie (4).

5 iron distance x36 = your appropriate course length.

I have seen that.  What if your 5 iron is a hybrid?   ;D.   6660, it is.

6660 for me as well. I had never heard that formula before and great advice. I usually play closest tees to 6700.

tower912

How far you 'consistently' hit your 5 iron.  If you hit one out of 10 that far en route to another 105, still move up.

This old guy has found his game after decade plus of it being MIA. The last 3 years I have hit the ball extremely consistent and pretty long for 60y. Played Erin at approx 6600 last summer and hit 12 greens. Golf equipment and confidence turned my game around and very thankful. I had gotten to the point that I did not want to play.

Ty.  I've never heard that before.

They've pushed the front nine to 3360 which is a bit of a problem for me.  The first three holes are freaking brutal.  I'd prefer not to be +6 through 3. :(

Here's the thing:  I use my 4H a lot more than my 5i.  I am also much more consistent with it and probably hit it 20 yards farther.  If I have a 175-190 par 3 I generally go with the 5i,  However, if I'm 180 to the green from the fairway I generally take a bit off my 4H.  #3 is 222 yards.  I'm thinking my 3W but if it's playing longer I could be totally screwed.  Maybe I'll just play forward.  :)

12 GIR = mid 70s.  Bravo.

12 greens turned into an 82. Made an 8 on the 9th, the short par three. Three putted the last three and went home disappointed in my score.

MuggsyB

6600?  I'm significantly shorter Goose.  WTF?  I'm best on a links course.  :)

5,760 for me....

Just curious where ladies are supposed to tee off from when we get old?  There is no senior ladies tee...

I was +2 coming to 9 and my caddie said play real distance, don't adjust for slope.  I didn't listen and tripled.  Immediately fired him

I trusted the caddie and have played there a good number of times but got too cute on my bunker shot. It did not help that the previous time I was +2 after 8 I made a 7 from the same bunker. My memory bank on bad holes is way too long and hurts me on a regular basis. Worst part is that I play about 50% of my rounds at Brown Deer and have about 6-7 holes that have had my number over the years. Have erased a couple of those holes over the past couple of years, but added a couple of new ones.

Same boat.  Absolutely maddening.  8 and 16 have been my problem holes at Brown Deer.

16 got easier with some of the tree removal on the right. 8 still has my number.

The number of times I've been in that right bunker on 14 is staggering.

There definitely should be tees at 3500.

I just moved up from the blacks to the blues at Brown Deer last season and my problem holes are getting smaller. 6, 8, 10, 11 and 15 all of have beaten down over the years. I am only scoring 1-2 shots better from the blues, but a less others on the card.

I was in the 15th fairway once playing 14.  Made par, so try that

How accurate do you think the simulators are?  I think I lose distance or the thing is biased against diminutive citizens.  :)

jutaw22mu

Well, my driver was finally starting to come around and I was hitting bombs and playing bogey golf (which is my goal as someone who has been playing only 4 years) and last night I wrecked my elbow (on a beautiful tee shot that found the green of the par 3 we were on).  Now I can barely move my arm without discomfort, struggled to get dressed this morning, and have swelling around the elbow (but not bursa).  Debating if I should bail on my round Sunday or try to tough it out knowing I have an appointment with the bone and joint doc Monday.  One of my favorite courses so my lean is to play..
