The golf ball rollback requires a 15 yard rollback at 127 mph swing speed.     Now, how many here have a 127 mph swing speed?     Yeah.    Me neither.    Mr. 95 mph raises his hand sheepishly.     However, the technology of golf balls has evolved to where golf ball manufacturers make different golf balls for different swing speeds.     Callaway, Wilson, Srixon, Taylor Made, most on-line only brands, etc.,  have golf balls designed to maximize distance for those with 90 mph swings.     They also will tell you that gain is minimized if you swing 105 mph.   Fast swingers won't see the same gains with a low compression golf ball as slow swingers do.   Or so the manufacturers say.   
    What I think this means is that manufacturers are still going to be making balls that don't adversely affect slow swingers as much as the players who swing as the professionals.     The pros will see a 15 yard drop, I predict that the 95 yard swinger will see a 5 yard drop.     And that may be able to be mitigated with loft and shaft choices.

If I remember correctly, you play the Wilson Staff Duo, right? If so, both the past and current models are likely to conform to the new rule without any changes.

I'm no fan of the ruling. In the world of recreation golf (which is played by 98% of all golfers), distance is nowhere near the game's leading issues. Between this ball rollback and the utter cluster occurring with the pro tours, the game's "leaders" seem to be hellbent on significantly denting golf's popularity in the next 5-10 years.

I have in the past.   I played many different balls over the lastcouple of years.   And your thoughts parallel mine.

And who knows, maybe the governing bodies ARE trying to get the casual weekend booze hounds out of the game.

My question about bifurcation is where does the line get drawn?  High School tournaments?  USGA junior tourneys?   County amateurs?

I got a good laugh at him saying that the average guy isn't going to miss 5-10 yards off the tee. I'll remember that when I see his next TaylorMade driver ad, lol.

IMO, you will see more graphite shafts, a little less stiff, with more stable heads/faces, combined with lower compression golf balls.   Yup, it will cost you, but I think it will be possible to largely negate it for the average Joe.

It pisses me off and will diminish the PGA tour.    It is still not enough to make me watch, or even care about, LIV.
