I think I'd prefer Cam Young over Keegan but the Captain has earned the right to pick himself. It'll be interesting how much and when he plays. He'll probably have to go first in singles to try and set the tone and then be on the mic the rest of the day

I think Keegan needs to bow out of playing. If he harbored hopes of playing on the team, he should have declined the captaincy. I also don't think it likely to have an impact on the ultimate result of the competition. These guys are all real good.

I am glad he didn't pick himself. It sounds like the analytics for Europe played a big role in Rome and not sure how a captain could prepare to play and fully commit to the captain role.

Something new to me today.  Walking 18 on a course I have played countless times.  They insisted on having my ID and giving me some kind of geo-tag to attach to my golf bag to track my walking pace.   
   
Is this common and the courses around here are just late to the party?

What course? Are they tracking the carts too?

Lots of people don't realize that walking is fast, especially for golfers that hit it fairly straight. Each of the twosome can walk directly to his or her shot and hit when the coast is clear. No need to wait for the partner to pull up in the cart.

Plus it's good exercise.

I usually play better when I walk.

I have zero issue walking, but carts can be super fast and efficient if people aren't lazy dopes (which I know is a big ask).  Obviously if bother players are good, you're zipping quickly to fairly straight and center balls.  But even if not, the way Ive always played with my dad or my friends is you drop someone off, they grab a club and the other person drives to their ball.  You hit and then start walking to your shot and get picked up on the way.  Same general premise as walking but you just fast forward through a lot of the between shot walking.

But of course, way more people just zig zag across the course from ball to ball as the other person sits in the cart doing nothing and things slow down.

Walking single, I have never been caught by a twosome sharing a cart.  I have been caught by a single in a cart and by two singles in two carts playing together.

Carts are great places to house High Noon.  And that alone is why they shouldn't be allowed on golf courses

The absolute worst is when you play on a course that doesn't allow walking but has a cart-path only rule the day you play because of weather.

That's a 5-hour round every effen time. If you're lucky.

Why?

As you state, the course is bad. The TPC Southwind of the DP World Tour. Given the excellent Heathland options near London, Wentworth is a dump. Plus, Patrick Reed is over there.
