That sucked.  Oh, well.

That's now a glowing recommendation for a playoff host

Quote from: MuggsyB on August 10, 2025, 05:33:12 PMI hope I'm wrong but Rose is going to be within 10 ft on his wedge here.  J.J. really needs to focus.

Justin Rose is extremely likable. Not that Spaun isn't, but Rose has always been easy to root for. As is the case with most of the Euros.

Even Ian Poulter and Sergio?  Rose is very likable, but Spaun is part of the DAC (Diminutive Athletes Community).

Small people shouldn't be allowed to play sports.  I'd prefer they remain in the circus where they belong

Messi is diminutive.  Pele was diminutive.  Hack Wilson was diminutive.  Barry Sanders was diminutive.  Perhaps you should recalculate everything.

Please.  We must respect diminutive people of the past, present, and future.  Gnomes shouldn't be disparaged either.  Iceland is the only country I know of that protects elves and elf society.

Like you, I don't value human life equally and think short people should be rounded up like common criminals and deported to Guatemala

Another week where the USGA has identified a course better than the PGA Tour.  While the tour purposely holds a playoff event at a bad golf course, the USGA is at Olympic Club where Gil Hanse and his magicians have reclaimed the landscape and created a course that tests all clubs in your bag while providing endless options.

The Olympic Club has sadly fallen out of the USGA rota, but the PGA will be there in '28 and host the '33 Ryder Cup.

We can tell based on the trash course they purposely choose to play.  So embarrassing to have a playoff event on purpose at a Fazio course

That's OK, Unk. These aren't really playoffs, anyway.

I think Rory has it right.  The playoffs are a TV/advertisers creation and whatever system they use will have flaws.  Many years, one golfer dominates a season.  Tiger, Vijay in '04, Scottie this year.  It's okay for that guy to have the title in his pocket before the end of the season.  You can still have the playoff events.  Those are good pelts for guys to put on the wall, you don't need to manufacture drama for the sake of drama.  How many extra eyeballs are they getting for the Tour Championship with a manufactured system?  It's minimal.

They won't do it, but really, match play is the way to go but it's bad for TV and host sites and the players would hate it because of how fluky match play can be.

There's still a lot to play for.  Being one of the 30 to reach the Tour Championship has built-in benefits for the next season and access to high tier events.  I'm no Rickie fan, but he's playing to get there.  Things of that nature.

If we weren't there already, it seems like the main bet is Scheffler or the field.

Nice to see Fairway Jesus finally win on the PGA Tour. His Euro teammates were behind the 18th green, cheering him on as he tapped in at the end.

Good warm-up for all of 'em in preparation of crushing the U.S. in the Ryder Cup.
