Anyone that goes should help support local places on Sanibel and Captiva.  Love those islands.  The causeway is reopen (in record time), imagine those folks could use the business, assuming they still there....

It's currently only open to residents (and utility/restoration folks).  Much of the island still without power and water.  Perhaps that will change in another month, but currently if you're not a resident or there to help fix the place up, don't head out!

Open only to residents so far. Captiva might not have power until sometime in November. Believe there is no water at either yet.

Can't believe we're living in the land of F 452/1984/Animal Farm/Brave New World/Handmaid's Tale. When travel to Mars begins, expect Starship Troopers

I appreciate the heroes doing the work.

It has been impressive. The Pine Island Bridge was rebuilt in three days. The Sanibel Island Causeway bridge was already fixed temporarily, in less than three weeks, with the permanent fixes almost done. Incredible work on vital infrastructure down there.

If there is any state that has figured out how to clean-up after a hurricane, it is Florida.

Period.

Doesn't matter the governor, the state's clean-up is quick, efficient and compassionate.

Seriously folks, don't make me say this again.  This is not the "Post Ian Florida Infrastructure Repair" thread.

I realize Sanibel is close to Ft Myers, but has little relevancy to tournament updates.

I don't like the name Ian

Lots of guys named Ian were working in the causeway.
In reality not a lot of people needed for what was done there.

Maybe rethink that dip in the gulf during the tournament.

Dangerous flesh-eating bacterial infections increased in Florida after Hurricane Ian
https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/18/health/rare-bacteria-hurricane-ian-floodwaters/index.html

There have been 65 cases of Vibrio vulnificus infection and 11 deaths in the state this year as of Friday, according to the Florida Department of Health, up from 34 cases and 10 deaths reported across the state in all of 2021.
Many of the infections are in Lee County. Ian made landfall as a Category 4 storm on September 28 in Lee County, which includes Fort Myers and Sanibel Island in Southwest Florida.

Looks like the pregame will be at the arena. Team heads home Wednesday night after the game. Are people staying for thanksgiving or heading out that Thursday morning to make it home for Thanksgiving Dinner?
We were thinking dinner at Cabbage Key. A little slice of old Florida.

Probably the same. Since the arena is nowhere near, well, anything, it seems to make sense to go. They never are great, food's bad, beer's limited, but hey, it's Marquette.

We are driving up for Orlando so no go for the sponsored pregame.

Also hitting up Mackey on our way down to Florida on Tuesday...
