Quote from: jesmu84 on January 14, 2026, 03:02:58 PMTo be fair, packers have won or been near the top of the division regularly which means a harder schedule the following year. So, consistently making the playoffs is the sign of a good team, especially when that team faces more difficult scheduling.

Well to be fair the Packers haven't won jack squat in the last four years so......

Hasn't won the NFC North since '21

None of those guys have had the level of success on the field equivalent to what LaFleur has had a coach, postseason notwithstanding.

I get that Packers fans have probably lost patience.  However, I think back to the Bears firing Lovie Smith and what followed from a coaching perspective.  An upgrade isn't a guarantee.

I don't need a guarantee of success.  I need a guarantee of not being mediocre.  Which is what MLF is.

Fair enough - I get it.

Does anyone actually like the clowns from CheeseheadTV? They seem like insufferable embodiments of the kind of hardcore fans most fanbases are embarrassed by.  And it's not rival fan bias cause there are a genre of Bears fans I absolutely cannot stand

Insufferable subsets of fanbases?

I used to follow Nagler, but I haven't in awhile. I think he can be kind of combative but seemed to know his stuff.

What did he do?

Generally knows his stuff but there are others in the Packersphere that are much better. He exists for his own little media operation, but he's fine because every now and again there are folks on his show that are actually great for talking Xs and Os

Better or worse then Scoop for basketball games?

No idea who they are.  Real ones follow Bukowski, Andy Herman, and Demvosky on twitter and that's it.

I knew of him and CheeseheadTV cause he used to have a spot on one of the radio morning shows (I think on The Game?) when I still lived in Milwaukee.  Then I remember reading he was an alcoholic scumbag who ditched his family and forgot about him  :o

But I saw a tweet from his partner Corey about how Ben Johnson is such a POS, and then I subsequently saw a bunch of clips of their lame gamewatch from the game on Saturday and it was just pathetic stuff.

Different, cause they are insanely blind homers.  They don't have the self-hatred streak for their team like the loonies in the Scoop gamethreads do.

I knew he had a messy divorce, but only saw his posts about it.

I think in general Packers fans weren't ready for a Bears team to be this good, and thought we'd get the last laugh at the Ben Johnson comments. I think MLF's response and the initial handshake shows he's pretty soft about it all. Frankly, Johnson has backed up what he said and he can say whatever he wants in my eyes.

Yup.  Johnson seems like a douche, but he's emasculated MLF and backed up the talk.

Johnson seems like a douche? As a Bears fan, I can see that.

I think most of the really good coaches come off that way. MLF has been accused of that by other fan bases. Few exception might be Landry, Reid, Dungy....

I think Johnson comes off to rival fans the same way Kolek did.  He's been super animated and emotional and bombastic in the locker room all year and it's clearly worked in terms of energizing the team and creating a culture.  The pearl clutching over the F bomb is silly.  Of course he would annoy me as a Packers fan, especially after how the season ended.  But neutral fans, gimme a break.  It's not like he's been loud and combative as the Bears piled up losses. I'm sure Al dropped more than a few F bomba toward teams, both in and out of the locker room

And on the flip side opposing fans rightfully made fun of the aura that Eberflus curated, of quiet incompetence.

No matter what you do, your average passionate packers fan will find reason to dislike/mock the bears coach.

just like despite me thinking he's a top 10(?) football mind in this league, I think Matt Lafleur's 5 haircuts and beard trims a week suggests he's a peacocking high maintenance weenie.

But I do respect him for his offensive prowess.
