But I bet a couple of those teams that just drafted a QB won't have the patience and will try to throw a bunch of money at the "quick fix." The Cowboys are really going to regret this IMO.

Cough Denver Cough Cough.

Jockey

I don't think it really matters as long as Jerry owns the Cowboys.

Curious why? His resume is better than Love's. I would have guessed $220M is the floor now.

No, it isn't.  He is on a team filled with superstars making him look better than he is.

The problem with Purdy is that he's good enough to effectively run the Niner offense, which as you said is full of talent. For instance, Jimmy Garapolo lead this team to the Super Bowl, and this group is even more talented.

The question is whether or not he's worth significant investment. But I'm not sure they will have much choice.

Thing is, there wasn't any game I watched and was truly impressed with Purdy.  He has every single thing going for him with that offense from a stellar line, to the best RB, and TE in the game, and really good WRs too.

You put Jordan in that offense last year, and they probably win the Super Bowl.

You and many others can feel that way and may be right (I'd bet your right). But when the agents walks into the negotiations the numbers and data points are on Purdy's side that he has performed better and longer.

I said last year I like Love (even as a Bears fan). But there are actual cases that show sometimes players can have great runs or seasons that do not  continue for a career. Hell, in Trubisky's second season he was considered as MVP in straw polls through 8 games and went to a pro bowl. The NFL had 12 games of his first season to get a read on him and he still put up great/MVP numbers for half a season in 2018.

Purdy's agent and the 49ers know this better than any of us.

All true as well.  But for the reasons that have been outlined I am not sure the 49ers give Purdy more than Love got.

One thing is for sure, Maholmes is underpaid.

Doesn't Mahomes keep restructuring his deal so they can afford to field a full team?

Yeah but money is neither being created nor destroyed. Just moved around and deferred.

He traded short term average annual value for long-term stability.

I think the hope to is that as the salary cap keeps rising, as you defer it, it's a smaller percentage.

With Rodgers for instance, it just got to the point the Packers were willing to swallow the pill and take the lumps the deferring caused.

Packers must be pretty good.  I was forced to listen to the Browns announcers.  The way they talk up their team, the Browns 2nd team could win the Super Bowl.  And the packers handled them easily.

At first glance I thought you typed "tempura" which conjured amusing imagery.
