And ...

I'm tired of being mocked by UW fans because MU is such a joke!

Every year for the past ~5 seasons .. my wife (MU grad) suggests we should just give up and switch to being Badger fans.

What are they at now, 17 straight NCAA seasons? UW with 14 wins (and counting) to MU's zero in 9 freaking years.

UW's brand is consistent winning, closing out the seasons strong.  MU's brand is the opposite and they are the team you hope to draw.

This afternoon's loss .. fits like a glove.

Don't do that.  You will regret that decision.

I think that is grounds for filing for divorce.

Topper ... you're right

UW brand:  play hard, overachieve ,
exceed expectations, win in March ..
Win big 14/10 titles , advance in NCAA

MU :  now 10 years w / out a NCAAT win. Play well in January, collapse in February.  Lose in embarrassing fashion in March.

They actually didn't make it in 2018, but your overall point is painfully true.  They are pretty much always good no matter what the preseason predictions are, through coaching changes, with non-stud players, etc.  It's depressing to constantly see their success while MU struggles so much.

He wouldn't regret it if Wiscy cuts down the nets before us. Which is something I fully expect to happen in the future.

yea, hard to argue with this. was a lot more fun in the buzz era when both programs were strong. Although MU has been so bad I've become apathetic to college basketball, UW's success doesn't really bother me that much

I had to look past the title to see if this was about the NCAA or the BET.

Sad day when a moderator, the pillar of Marquette fandom says that.
Now nowhere to turn for optimism.

Yeah.   Almost a decade of demoralizing endings will do that.  #Arbys

Don't worry, we only make the tourney 30% of the time these days so the humiliation is few and far between.

Come on man!  If Shaka fails in 2-3 more years I would get the frustration. But we made the tournament on an off year.  I agree the performance today was embarrassing but step off the ledge and ask you wife to calm down.  Being a fan of a team isn't always pleasant.

It will be rewarding.  Someday, I hope.

I'm going to agree with this analysis, man it's hard to see a 13 seed Vermont hanging with an Arkansas team, I'll give Shaka a couple years before I go to the dark side (Oregon/Oregon St), but come on a competitive game would have been a breath of fresh air, is that asking too much, if Shaka acknowledges the success and disappointment of tbe NCAA loss that will go a long way with acknowledging disappointment and a need for growth, that would give me a lot of hope for the future

Agreed about having Shaka acknowledge that the game today was a failure that needs to be remedied by player acquisition or development would be more encouraging.

It would appear that shitting the bed when the lights are brightest is in our DNA.  There was nothing god about the last two games MU played; schematically or effort wise.  That's coaching.  I'm OK with losing if your competitive and executing.  MU is just bad when it matters most.  Nothing about talent.  They weren't ready and collapsed emotionally.  Shaka couldn't stop the bleeding or help them in any way.  crap they just literally threw the ball at the rim.  It was pathetic.  The die hard and casual fan alike could see this team stunk.  Not about talent, about scheme and execution.

That perhaps is most surprising (or indicting?).  From the beginning of the season through the winning streak, you generally saw the team competing well, and we assumed Shaka was making great adjustments because we often came back in games (even if we lost).

So either he forgot how to do that starting in Feb, or the players stopped listening, or that was all just a bad assumption on our part.

A program that went 47 years (1947-1994) without even making so much as one NCAA Tournament needs to be a little careful about mocking anyone.

And really...who cares if they're mocking?

Their time will come again.  What goes around comes around.

Shaka just laid the foundation, now just build upward. Couldn't ask for a better place to start.
